Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) Space, Intelligence & Weapon Systems (SI&WS) is seeking a Senior Production Engineering Manager to join our team in New Orleans, LA at the NASA Michoud Assembly Facility. This Capability Leader will be responsible for Production Engineering (PE) at the primary sites of New Orleans, LA and Kennedy Space Center, FL. This position will be responsible for managing employees and managers performing PE activities supporting Space Launch Systems (SLS) execution.
This leader must have strong experience in development programs and effectively building solid cross-functional relationships to define and align priorities to drive outcomes for functional execution. In addition, this leader must have demonstrated performance leading through complexity and dynamic changes, proven ability to simplify objectives, be a creative strategic problem solver, and proficient in concise Boeing and government customer executive communication including metrics and recovery plans. Furthermore, the leader must also be able to develop work management strategies to create capacity for the team to tackle longer-term “important but not urgent” priorities.
Boeing has played a significant role in human space exploration for the past six decades. Now, as part of the NASA Artemis program, Boeing is the prime contractor for the design, development, test, and production of the SLS core stage, upper stage, and flight avionics suite. On November 16, 2022, the SLS rocket successfully launched as part of the Artemis I Mission, which served as an uncrewed test flight to validate the rocket components and systems in preparation for future crewed missions. Boeing is currently working on the core stages for Artemis II, III and IV as well as the first Exploration Upper Stage, which will replace the Interim Cryogenic Propulsion Stage (ICPS) in future Artemis missions. This role will report directly to the SI&WS Senior Director and Capability Leader for Production Engineering, Test, and Launch with indirect program relationships aligned to SLS program management priorities.
At Boeing, we create the future – of mobility, autonomy, speed, endurance, space access and exploration, undersea vehicles, cybersecurity, communication and much, more. We connect people, products, and ideas around the world. We protect people and nations. We explore the mysteries of the universe from seabed to space to cyberspace.
