As a Senior Project Engineer (High Voltage) in the Commercial & Industrial Markets (C&I), you’ll be accountable for the technical High Voltage (HV) aspects on hybrid energy system (microgrid) projects from design through to commissioning and will ensure that all HV engineering, installation and commissioning work complies with industry standards, project-specific requirements and Australian standards.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Engaging with Sales team to assess customers’ requirements from a techno-commercial perspective and recommending optimum solutions that fit with AGL suite of products and capabilities.
  • Developing designs of HV network architecture on microgrid projects and reviewing load and protection requirements.
  • Preparing procurement specifications and managing RFQ process, coordinating suppliers and subcontractors for the successful implementation and commissioning of scope, including providing insights on timelines and cost.
  • Optimising system design strategies (generation or load) to better suit outcomes for AGL Assets.
  • Ensuring safety design principals are utilised wherever engineering work may have a downstream impact on the safety of people, property, or the environment, as well as complying with industry standards, project-specific requirements and Australian standards.

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering or equivalent, and either Chartered or working towards Chartership with Engineers Australia (or equivalent in other countries), coupled with any additional industry related Accreditations.
  • Experience in HV design, HV equipment selection and as a Project Engineer managing HV infrastructure implementation.
  • Experience working in cross disciplinary delivery teams across major industrial and commercial renewables OEM or EPC, coupled with experience working with DNSPs in relevant states on grid connection process for embed generators.
  • Knowledge and experience with design and engineering software (AutoCAD, ETAP, PowerCAD) modelling and electrical component specification software including excellent Microsoft Office Suite computer skills.
  • Well-developed, detail orientated organization skills and good interpersonal and written / verbal communication skills.
