Senior Project Engineer

Marshall Canada requires a Senior Project Engineer in Ottawa, ON to join our team. Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, the Senior Project Engineer will lead and manage Marshall Land Systems Canada Inc. engineering projects.
This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Accountability for engineering delivery of multiple elements of complex projects
  • Provide project engineering leadership to deliver safe, cost-effective, compliant solutions to contracted requirements, team performance, schedule and budget through internal resources and external subcontractors
  • Be the technical authority for assigned solutions
  • Lead customer and subcontractor interactions on assigned solutions, including the execution of design reviews across the full engineering lifecycle of the project
  • Manage sub-contract relationships, technical specifications, and ensure sub-contractor performance
  • Ensure clear delivery of scope between internal and external teams and manage interfaces
  • Prepare, review and approve technical documentation against contract delivery requirements to ensure customer acceptance
  • Manage change for the assigned scope throughout the project lifecycle
  • Define work packages and tasking documentation, including design approaches, budget, test schedules, and timescales to support program schedule for delivery.
  • Requirements management through the lifecycle of the project; including requirements acceptance, change and trade-off as required
  • Provide input to project status reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure pragmatic and best-practice Systems Engineering techniques are adopted through development to acceptance.
  • Work to standards, processes & procedures to ensure rigor, resilience, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage the progressive signoff of requirements with the customer through the provision of verification evidence.
  • Produce presentation packs and present evidence in formal development gate reviews.
  • Track and manage the Estimate to Complete metrics and ensure that resource is provisioned.
  • Promote and uphold the company values and procedures.
  • Promote and adhere to Health, Safety and Environmental best practice.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Engineering Manager

Apply if you have most of the following:

  • Hold an applicable engineering degree (e.g., Mechanical, Aerospace, etc.) from an accredited university or have equivalent knowledge gained through other forms of education or training
  • Hold professional engineer designation (P.Eng.) or have the ability to become registered
  • 8+ years of applicable experience; defense industry experience considered an asset
  • Commercial acumen including a focus on the future – think ahead and thrive in change – challenge what’s possible
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in managing complex working relations and influencing internal and external stakeholders at the senior level
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence others using information and a variety of data sources
  • Proven track record of successful delivery of complex projects with strong initiative, enthusiasm, and drive. High sense of commitment and accountability
  • Development of engineering solutions through the Systems Engineering lifecycle
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience developing and managing personnel, tasks, and information in an ISO 9001:2015 Quality Assurance environment
  • Ability to communicate and write clear technical and business reports in English; proficiency in French is an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite applications
  • Available for occasional travel – both domestically and internationally to meet Customers and Subcontractors
  • Must be eligible to meet the requirements of export control regulations, including the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and Canadian government security requirements
