Valmet is a global leader in delivering solutions and services to the energy industry. Our Pulp & Energy Business Line designs and delivers complete pulp mills and process equipment for chemical and mechanical pulp production, as well as power plants for energy producers and other industries worldwide.
We are looking for a Senior Project Engineer to join our Site Planning and Estimation Team in Tampere. This position also includes some travelling.
As a Senior Project Engineer you are involved both in sales phase and during project execution. You will lead both EPC and EPS site planning, working closely with various number of professionals, both internally and externally such as customers and sub-contractors. You will have an important coordinating role in our organization, as the decisions made in other disciplines along the way will not come to life until construction at the site. Your main responsibility would be to do construction planning and cost estimating in sales, delivery, and development projects, ensuring safe conditions to perform site activities efficiently.

We are looking for a Senior Project Engineer who meets the following requirements

  • A suitable degree in a technical field.
  • Strong experience from construction sites or project management
  • Good knowledge of mechanical & piping installations in pulp, energy or similar industry
  • Fluent skills in both spoken and written English are needed.
  • Experience in welding technology and quality assurance is seen as an advantage.
  • You are self-confident, structured and can prioritize even in pressured situations.
  • You can think several steps ahead and understand the cause and effect of the choices you make, including cost and safety aspects.
  • Creative thinking and curiosity to innovative problem-solving
  • Due to coordinating role, you need to enjoy teamwork and have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • You are prepared to justify your views and even enjoy the occasional debate.
  • Good skills in MS Office are required, and knowledge of AutoCAD and 3D-modelling tools is seen as an advantage.
