Main Duties

  • Accountable for leading efforts to drive continuous improvement with regards to engineering within multiple facilities.
  • Manage various capital projects from concept through to commissioning including budget preparation, cost tracking and negotiating with vendors.
  • Assess and prioritize process/project opportunities and manage it from beginning through to completion.
  • Improve the overall operating efficiency of the plants, in partnership with Operations, Maintenance and Engineering, through technological improvements and process optimization.
  • Provide technical support and guidance in troubleshooting plant equipment and services
  • Represent the Company in dealing with all levels of Government pertaining to permitting and obtaining the necessary approvals
  • Assist Plant Managers in fostering a continuous improvement culture in the manufacturing facilities.

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive engineering/technical experience in a manufacturing environment with 8 of those in a leadership role.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in managing capital projects.
  • Experience in food manufacturing is required, meat manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience with ammonia plant operations
  • P.Eng. designation required or in progress
  • Travel is required

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
Work is performed both, in the processing plants and in an office environment. There is a low level of risk for accidents involved however potential safety hazards include exposure to the plant environment. Travel is required between your home location and the Edmonton area facilities your will serve on a regular basis.
