The university’s Estates Planning & Development team is responsible for masterplanning the estate and planning, designing and delivering capital projects with a value exceeding £0.5m.
About the role:
Estates Planning and Development (EPD) are seeking a highly motivated, organised and capable individual to deliver effective and professional construction project management across the University’s substantial and varied property portfolio.
Reporting to the Associate Director for Real Estate Development (Arts & Sciences), the post holder will take ownership and independently manage a wide range of construction projects from inception through to post-completion to ensure the University’s property portfolio is effectively maintained, improved and developed in accordance with agreed standards, policies and procedures; maintenance plans; and the capital investment programme.
This is a full time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
About You: (the candidate)
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
1.Undergraduate degree, or equivalent, in a Mechanical or Electrical engineering related discipline
2. Experience in managing specialist engineering services within building projects
3. Extensive experience of undertaking Project Management role in construction management
4. Experience of direct management and control of a wide range of multidisciplinary teams of construction professionals and contractors
5. Working knowledge of current health & safety and construction legislation and technical standards within the construction industry
6. Experience of working on technically complex projects such as medical and scientific research facilities
7. Experience of budget management and control
8. Developed interpersonal skills
9. Self-motivated and willing to work independently/take the initiative
10. Strong presentation skills
Desirable criteria
1. Professional membership of appropriate body
2. Project management and delivery within an Estate context, including educational and healthcare settings
