Description:

SUMMARY:

Norwest Engineering is a consulting engineering firm with our main office in Portland, OR. We provide multi-discipline engineering study, design and construction management services to heavy industrial clients. Our projects cover a variety of industries including alternative energies, oil and gas, petrochemical, primary metals, chemical and pulp & paper. As part of our continued success and expansion, we are seeking a full-time Senior Project Manager / Project Engineer. The position will be a remote position, where you work from your home office. Our projects are nationwide; however, the majority of our projects are on the West Coast. Therefore, we would prefer the person fulfilling this position to be located on the West Coast as travel to our project sites is often required.
As a senior project manager, you will have the opportunity to take ownership of project management from kick-off to completion with little oversight from senior management. These projects are generally multi-disciplinary and vary widely in size.
It is also key that you have strong engineering skills in your primary engineering discipline. You will frequently be required to perform engineering tasks on smaller and medium sized projects. It is only while being a project manager on the largest of projects that you will not be required to perform engineering tasks as well.
Using skills developed as a lead engineer within your discipline and your extensive project management experience, you will work with a team of engineers and designers of other disciplines and manage complex fast-paced projects

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 8+ years of combined experience working as a senior engineer and project manager on industrial projects must include:
  • Working and directly interfacing with the client.
  • Project development from concept through construction, including start-up and commissioning.
  • Oil and gas, refinery, pulp and paper, or other industrial environments.
  • Technical field and client job site experience.
  • B.S. (Bachelor of Science) in Engineering is required - mechanical, electrical, civil or chemical engineering degree is preferred.
  • P.E. (Professional Engineer) is desired; must be willing to work toward and obtain a PE if license is not currently held.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10-25% of the time throughout the western United States with some national travel.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Solid listening skills and ability to think “outside the box” are a must to allow our team to come up with creative solutions to match the client’s needs and budgets.
  • Capable and willing to promote Norwest by intentionally seeking out new work with existing and prospective clients.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently as well as lead a team with energy and enthusiasm. Must be willing to put in extra effort when required to achieve a successful outcome.
  • Good interpersonal skills are a must, including the ability to develop strong professional relationships with clients and team members within Norwest.
  • Have a desire to seek continuous improvement of personal and team skill-set.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, and Excel), web meeting software such as MS Teams, WebEx, or Go-To Meeting.
  • Proficiency with PDF markup software (Bluebeam Revu or Adobe Acrobat) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project or a similar tool is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Navisworks Freedom is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of CAD software terminology, methods, and practices; ability to operate CAD software is not required.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of application for employment - Norwest Engineering does not sponsor employment visas.
