ABOUT THE ROLE
The Infrastructure Coordination Service is hiring a Senior Project Officer to manage the delivery of high-profile data services such as the IMA Infrastructure Mapping Application (london.gov.uk) and undertake related stakeholder engagement to ensure delivery of the Mayor’s priorities for infrastructure and decarbonisation in the capital.
Do you enjoy working collaboratively and have exceptional project management and communication skills? Do you have experience working with data and are you interested in contributing towards decarbonisation through supporting the development of energy planning tools? If so, we’d like to hear from you.
The Infrastructure Coordination Service (ICS) is an award-winning team that works to improve how utilities (and other) infrastructure is planned and delivered in our city. We are interdisciplinary, fast moving, industry-leading and focused on innovation and creating real change. The ICS brings significant benefits to industry and Londoners by reducing road network disruption and air pollution, supporting ‘healthy streets,’ and enabling decarbonisation.
Your role in the Data and Innovation function will involve working closely with those who shape London’s infrastructure. We bring together a wide range of expertise—including architects, engineers, planners, policy makers, project managers, and GIS experts—in order to think differently about infrastructure planning and delivery.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
- You will have a chance to work on a range of interesting projects and digital services at the forefront of the sector–helping to tackle some of the cross-cutting problems impacting infrastructure planning and decarbonisation in the capital. You will:
- Lead on sourcing new data from infrastructure providers and local authorities
- Influence parties to secure long-term change regarding infrastructure data sharing
- Manage stakeholder engagement, establishing and maintaining good relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders so there is buy-in and use of the digital services of the ICS
- Scope user needs with the wider Infrastructure team and external stakeholders to ensure the Data & Innovation function meets evolving demand. The Senior Project Officer will lead on communicating user needs to external and internal development teams
- Manage data projects, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met within budget
- Manage relevant policy and strategy development on infrastructure data
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Manage and lead on strategic and high priority data services for the GLA to map London’s future infrastructure investment and ensure delivery of the Mayor’s priorities for infrastructure and decarbonisation in the capital – including planning, stakeholder engagement and delivery.
- Manage budgets and ensure timelines and deliverables are met; establish and maintain an effective project management approach.
- Help build new and maintain existing partnerships to assist the delivery of data services; manage sometimes conflicting stakeholder needs, influence participation and persuade parties to change internal practices to secure long-term change in ways of working.
- Establish, develop and maintain good working relationships within and outside the Authority in order to ensure that the Mayor’s priorities are met and opportunities for integration and inter-disciplinary working are realised.
- Communicate effectively with senior staff across the GLA Group and work with internal and external stakeholders and partners to achieve the team’s corporate objectives.
- Assist in the establishment and maintenance of communications on technical and policy matters with international organisations, Government departments, the London Boroughs, and other organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors. Lead on data sourcing from a wide range of partners across the infrastructure sector.
- Support and input into the technical activities led by the Senior Technical Officer; interface with technical providers to agree delivery plans and resolve issues.
- Build and maintain an up-to-date awareness of innovations as well as technical, legislative and policy changes in the infrastructure and data mapping fields.
- Manage resources allocated to the job in accordance with the GLA’s policies and standards.
- Realise the benefits of London’s diversity by promoting and enabling equality of opportunities and promoting the diverse needs and aspirations of London’s communities.
- Deputise for the Infrastructure Data and Innovation Lead as required.
- Carry out all roles allocated to the job in accordance with the Authority’s policies and Code of Ethics and Standards.
- Realise the benefits of a flexible approach to work in undertaking the duties and responsibilities of this job, and participating in multi-disciplinary, cross-department and cross-organisational groups and project teams.
