Description:
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Provides counselling and psychological services to students, individually and in groups, including appropriate short term therapeutic interventions undertaken within the constraints of their training, experience and supervision
- Engages with and implements the procedures of the Professional Practice Framework for the NSW School Counselling Service
- Works in consultation with the principal, school executive, staff and student support services to improve student learning and wellbeing outcomes and implement current departmental priorities
- Contributes to the social, emotional, and academic development of students, and supports schools and students with complex behavioural needs
- Administers cognitive, social, emotional and behavioural assessment of students, reports on the results of assessments and interventions and collaborates to improve learning, wellbeing and mental health outcomes
- Works collaboratively with learning and support teams, parents and carers, and other agencies, to develop appropriate school based support for students
- Responds as part of a team to assist schools experiencing serious incidents
- Refers students and/or their families and carers to other agencies that will support the development of student health and wellbeing outcome
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
- General or Provisional Psychology Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia
- Valid and current Working with Children Check clearance
- Current and valid driver’s licence and ability and willingness to travel between work sites.
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency

ABOUT THE ROLE
Full Time - Position
Location: Anson Street School
Senior Psychologist Education coordinate and professionally supervise a team of school counsellors and school psychologists to deliver high quality psychological services to schools. They work closely with schools, other members of educational services teams and agencies to improve student learning and wellbeing outcomes.
Senior Psychologist Education provide professional leadership in the delivery of psychological services to school communities and have a key leadership role as part of the networked specialist centres.
Senior Psychologist Education will not be required to teach or undertake teaching duties as defined by the Teacher Accreditation Act 2004 as amended.
Anson Street School provides specialist and intensive support in a dedicated setting for students Kindergarten to Year 12 with diverse learning needs. We cater for students from kindergarten to Year 12 who meet the department’s disability criteria. We accommodate students with physical and intellectual disabilities, poor mental health, autism or challenging behaviours. The philosophy that all students can learn and succeed underpins the practice of all professionals in our context.
Highly trained and passionate teaching staff provide all students with access to a high quality, student–centred educational experience.
