Job Description
AECOM’s Buildings practice is currently seeking a Senior Public Health Engineer, to be based in our design studio, in Abu Dhabi. The Public Health Engineer will work closely with clients to develop designs, performing design calculations and choosing the appropriate equipment and systems for installation.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee junior engineering staff and provide training for them when required to ensure that each project is completed to the appropriate standards.
  • Undertake detailed engineering design for piped water supply, above and below ground drainage including preparation of layouts, schematics and details.
  • Undertake engineering design for Public health and fire protection services including preparation of layouts, schematics, schedules, specification and details.
  • Prepare technical schedules and specifications.
  • Plan and manage CAD documentation of design work.
  • Represent the Discipline during client meetings
  • Ensure service and project work are carried out within agreed deadlines and within budget.
  • Ensure that appropriate service/design decisions are met.
  • Prepare water, drainage and fire protection briefing documentation to enable design to be outsourced to the firm approved delivery suppliers.
  • Review design information from delivery aspect to ensure compliance with briefing documentation requirements.
  • Ability to critically review building services documentation (drawings, calculation and specifications) at all design stages from concept to construction documentation and provide valuable design input and direction.
  • Proficiency in design of sustainable Plumbing & Fire Protection systems including technical knowledge of hydraulics, piping systems, pumps and equipment.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to achieve project coordination and timely delivery.
  • Comprehensive report writing and preparing technical notes with techno-commercial comparisons.
  • Represent meetings with the client, authorities, other professions and suppliers.
    Qualifications
  • BE / B. Tech – Mechanical Engineering with 8+ years experience in India, Middles East & UK Projects.
  • Experience in High-rise Towers, Shopping Malls, Commercial Space & Retrofit projects is a must.
    Technical
  • Good knowledge of delivery in Revit MEP, Navis and BIM 360.
  • Knowledge of Codes including but not limited to UAE codes, CIBSE, BS standards, ASPE, SBC, IPC, International Codes, Energy Code, NFPA Standards, etc.
  • Prepare mark ups, calculations, specifications for Public health and Fire systems to ensure installation and operations conform to standards, codes and customer requirements using computer- assisted engineering or design software/ tools. (AutoCAD, REVIT, Navisworks, Hevacomp, HASS)

  • Mentoring the Junior Engineers and conducting regular assessment of their progress.
