Description:
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Pharmacy Technician to join our Pharmacy Aseptic Team. You will be supporting the Quality Assurances for the service in line to the Aseptic Preparation Services Standards, to demonstrate compliance to the professional standards. You will be providing the appropriate training and education to the team. You will be carrying out and reporting on internal audits for the Aseptic service.
You will have the opportunity to apply your skills and knowledge to help improve processes and procedures working closely with the Aseptic Team.
Your contribution will help benefit the services for patients and promote best practices.
The Quality Assurance Officer is directly responsible to the Accountable Pharmacist and will work with the Quality Assurance Lead (via SLA).
Undertake routine Quality Assurance processes which includes regular audits and implementing recommendations.
Assist in the development of standard operating procedures.
Provide Education and Training to the staff for Aseptic Processes and understanding of Quality Assurance in line with approved standards.
Work with the Team preparing for Inspections , e.g. Farwell and assuring actions are undertaken.
Participate in departmental quality groups such as Aseptic Quality Team, Error Monitoring Team and the regional Aseptic Technical Groups.
Set Key Performance Indicators for the validation of processes and provide assurances.
The Pharmacy Aseptic Services Unit is situated within the Pharmacy Department and provides Chemotherapy to patients, working with multi professional teams of Doctors, Nursing Staff and Patients. We also work collaboratively with the aseptic quality team at Royal Wolverhampton Trust. We operate an unlicensed unit under Section 10 of the Medicines Act, under the supervision of the Accountable Pharmacist, with trained and competency assessed staff, providing injectable and non-injectable Chemotherapy Medicines for administration to named patients. Aseptic Pharmacy Staff ensure products are prepared accurately, documentation is completed and the correct expiry date and storage conditions is provided for injectable medicines ready to administer to patients. We are inspected regularly by local and regional quality assurance teams.
1. To support the Accountable Pharmacist in managing the efficient operation provided by the Quality Assurance Team. To support the Accountable Pharmacist ensuring continuation of service from the supporting QA team as necessary.
4. To support the organisation and prioritization of the workload within Quality Assurance team, always seeking to improve turn-around times in liaison with Accountable Pharmacist.
5. To ensure error monitoring and quality assurance systems are adhered to within designated area, reporting all discrepancies to the Accountable Pharmacist and the Pharmacy Medicines Governance Team.
6. Undertake routine review of the Product Specification documents and SACT catalogue. To write and ensure all COSHH statements are current and valid.
7. Ensure Incident reporting systems are adhered to within the designated area, reporting all incidents to the Accountable Pharmacist including liaison with Microbiology for identification and advice concerning microbial growths.
8. To assist Accountable Pharmacist with the development and implementing a robust Quality Management System
9. To write and develop procedures under the supervision of the Accountable Pharmacist and implement those procedures after authorization. To ensure, via monitoring and audit, compliance with all appropriate procedures, which must always be maintained in a rigorously up to date condition.
