SD Avionics is a division of Satcom Direct located in Kanata, the high-tech hub of Ottawa, Ontario. Our second largest site globally, this location manufactures avionics hardware, cabin routers, and the SD Plane Simple Antenna System.
JOB SUMMARY:
Ensure compliance to Satcom Direct’s Quality Management System (QMS) policies and procedures, Health and Safety policies, Ministry Of Labor and Transport Canada regulations and requirements.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s degree in a technical discipline, in lieu of which, proven work experience in aerospace industry.
- More than 5 years of work experience in Quality Engineering
- Strong technical background, resourceful, able to work independently as well as an excellent team player
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to work effectively with all levels across functional teams.
- AS9100D Lead Auditor qualification, experience in QMS audit.
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) is an asset.
- Experience in writing macros in MS Excel, programming skills is an asset.
Responsibilities:
- Support the company’s QMS activities: manage QMS documents, perform internal audit, lead corrective actions response (CAR) and Corrective Actions Board (CAB).
- Lead Supplier Quality activities: collaborate with suppliers on quality improvement initiatives, first articles inspection, root cause and corrective actions and perform supplier assessment and audit.
- Lead effective Material Review Board (MRB) activities and work with internal and external teams to drive improvement.
- Support Engineering Change Orders review and perform First Article Inspection when required.
- Lead environmental compliance initiatives: gathering product compliance data, review and update compliance database, respond to customer compliance requests, including but not limited to REACH SVHC, AD-DSL, Conflict Minerals,
- Support data science activities for Quality department: Power BI, Jira, Confluence.
- Support other activities as assigned by the Director of Quality.
