Description:

SUMMARY

The Senior Quality Specialist acts as the primary liaison between SMS group and our suppliers. He/she ensures the goods produced are correct and damage free on site. Additionally, he/she would provide ongoing reporting and documentation of the components or equipment to the entire project team, supply chain and internal customers. When not assigned on site, the candidate will perform various heavy equipment Quality Assurance inspections and supplier development tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Position includes heavy travel with occasional long-term assignments.
  • Inspections of components and assemblies according to specifications, drawings, and customer requirements.
  • Supervision and proactive intervention during the production process at suppliers primarily within North America and Canada. Document visual inspections and quantity counts of produced components while reporting any issues.
  • Collect information and fill out open package inspection reports.
  • Documentation of the inspections, test results and deviations.
  • Interaction with customers, contractor(s), engineers, freight forwarders, site managers and manufacturing facilities.
  • Personal safety/care while on-site and wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Must be willing to work a minimum of eight (8) or more hours per day.
  • Use MS Office, SAP and SMS software for look-ups and reporting.
  • Travel and work collaboratively with suppliers on site.
  • Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities.
  • Attention to detail.
  • International travel could be required.
