REQUIREMENTS
In addition to truly being a team player, the ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:
- Hold a Degree in Pharmaceutical or Formulation Science or Chemistry
- Relevant formulation experience in a similar role within manufacturing
- Experience with raw material sourcing, formula costing and product stability testing
- Familiarity with the requirements arising from working within a GMP/GLP environment and compliance with a quality management system
- Demonstrable capability to manage concurrent projects with overlapping priorities
- Ability to conduct stability testing of products and undertake SPF, water resistance, and photo-stability testing using in-house methods (desirable)
- A desire to stay up to date with the latest innovations in raw materials and products
You’ll also need to substantiate having the supporting skills associated with being a professional scientist, which typically appears in more exhaustive selection criteria (e.g., attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, communication skills, etc).
However, of utmost importance, you shall be someone who desires to grow with this world-recognized team and have a positive, proactive attitude to R&D work.
Responsibilities:
Our client is seeking a qualified and suitably experienced person to become part of their team on a permanent basis in an R&D Chemist role. Reporting to the R&D Manager, this full-time position is tasked with thriving in a fast-paced environment that fosters creativity and productivity—yet upholding stringent quality standards applicable in a GMP/GLP environment.
To provide you with an overview of this opportunity, the primary duties and responsibilities of the R&D Chemist shall include:
- Formulate existing and new personal care topical products in a timely manner, with both quality and budget in mind
- Follow GLP to produce formula samples in the laboratory that meet customers’ requirements and deadlines
- Perform experimental testing and trials on new formulations
- Develop Master Formulas and prepare and maintain related documents and records
- Provide assistance and support during manufacturing and upscale of new products
- Initiate change controls and deviations, as and when required
