Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

As a Senior Research and Evaluation Analyst at the Justice Institute of British Columbia, you will be responsible for developing qualitative and quantitative evidence required for informed leadership decision-making and help JIBC build educational and business excellence. You will work closely with program leaders to determine evaluation objectives and develop custom metrics and analysis. Leading the development of survey services, you will help ensure valid, ethical and actionable research. You’ll prepare accountability reports, analytic dashboards, and data stories for government, Board of Governors, and other key interest-holders, showcasing JIBC’s impact in achieving its mission.
In this role, you will assess program quality and performance covering areas such as labour market needs, program economics, student success, teaching quality, learning outcomes and curriculum. You will be a champion of continuous improvement, identifying and recommending opportunities to enhance institutional effectiveness, including student success, employee engagement, revenue growth and resource optimization. You will also be responsible for creating, maintaining, and enhancing data models and pipelines, integrating multiple internal and external sources and automating workflows.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a research-intensive field such as social sciences, economics, or statistics. Post-graduate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in research and complex data analysis.
  • Familiarity with the post-secondary sector and experience with academic and administrative processes and systems is an asset.
  • Project management and change management experience would be assets.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a variety of qualitative, quantitative, and mixed research methodologies and conduct statistical analysis, with knowledge of advanced analytics methods.
  • Proficient in designing and executing research, reporting and data visualizations using applications such as Tableau, Power BI, SPSS, NVivo, Excel, Qualtrics, SQL Server Reporting Services.
  • Experience in large-scale survey research including project management, client management, and timeline management, as well as questionnaire design, sample design, statistical analysis and report writing for a non-technical audience.
  • Experience using programming languages and syntax to extract, manage and analyse large data sets (e.g. SQL, Python, R, DAX).
  • Knowledge of relational and dimensional databases, with an understanding of the flow of data throughout administrative systems.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent written, oral, and visual communication skills. Ability to explain complex ideas clearly and concisely and convey advice persuasively to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with academic quality assurance frameworks is an asset.
    An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
