About This Opportunity
The UQ Poche Centre for Indigenous Health have an opportunity for a Senior Research Assistant to join the team. As the Senior Research Assistant, you will provide technical research support and subject matter expertise in support of the
Young, Deadly, Free
program at all stages of the project life-cycle.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating a wide range of project activities and aspects of the Young, Deadly, Free program
  • Assisting in the design of research studies, under supervision of senior staff
  • Assisting in the conduct of major or complex projects, tasks or programs related to Young, Deadly, Free
  • Assisting with drafting research documentation, including ethics and funding applications
  • Undertaking literature searches and reviews
  • Assisting with routine team administration
  • Assisting with preparing reports, graphs, figures, and presentations on research outcomes at different stages of the research cycle

This is a part-time (40%), fixed-term position through to 30th November 2024.
At HEW level 5, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $77,396 - $86,029, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $90,553 - $100,654 annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.

About You

  • Completion of a degree level qualification in Public Health or similar; or completion of a Diploma with relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Excellent practical research skills and experience in relevant research methodology or techniques required for this body of research.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander populations, particularly youth (16 to 25 years).
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently on routine procedures.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Well-organised, methodical, and self-motivated.
  • Previous experience in a similar role would be considered favourably.
