DESCRIPTION:
Position Summary
This position is a principle contributor in developing specific research project requirements and is
responsible for all aspects of the project from development through delivery. Perform complex laboratory and data collection techniques. May coordinate and train of lower level research staff.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Design and execute experimental procedures; assist other members in the lab in experimental design and analysis
- Lab management and equipment set up
- Review and contribute to grant applications and manuscripts
- Co-supervise/mentor graduate and undergraduate students in their research projects
- Provide training for new laboratory members
- Expertise in cell culture, qPCR, qRT PCR, Western blotting, cloning, lentiviral infection, polysome profiling and ribosome footprinting. Knowledge of other
- biochemical techniques such as ELISA and bioactivity assay is an advantage.
- Extensive knowledge of the characterizing neurological disease animal model and mouse brain surgery.
- Experience with human neuropathology autopsy, tissue and microscopy image analysis.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in science or related field required. Master’s degree in science preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years related research experience.
- Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices and methods.
- Proficient in specific lab research techniques.
Preferred Qualifications
Extensive knowledge and Experience iPSC studies
Excellent knowledge of software such as Office, Photoshop and Prism. Knowledge of biostatistics and software such as SPSS and SAS is an advantage.
