REVENUES & BENEFITS - SENIOR REVENUES & BENEFITS OFFICER GRADE 6 – REVENUES

The Council Revenues and Benefits Service is responsible for Billing, Collection and Recovery of Council Tax, Business Rates, Housing Benefit Overpayment & Sundry Debt.
We are looking for enthusiastic and positive individuals to work as part of our teams responsible for administration and processing within the Revenues Service.
We welcome collaborative thinkers, excellent communicators and people who are enthusiastic to develop skills across a broad section of the service. You should be able to demonstrate a clear customer focus with well-developed customer service skills, balanced with a commitment to effective service delivery.

We are looking to appoint to permanent, primarily full-time posts across the following roles:

  • Council Tax Billing – experience and in-depth working knowledge of a Revenues Local Government software package covering the whole Council Tax billing function.
  • Council Tax Recovery Team – experience and in-depth working knowledge of a Revenues Local Government software package covering the whole Council Tax recovery/collection environment, including court attendance.
  • Business Rates – experience and in-depth working knowledge of a Revenues Local Government software package involving the whole process of billing and collecting Non Domestic Rating is required.

Roles will be 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with the position to be based at Howden House. We currently operate a hybrid working pattern with the expectation of a minimum 20% attendance in office.

For these roles you will need a range of skills and experience, and including:

  • Experience and in-depth knowledge of Council Tax and Business Rates.
  • Experience and in-depth knowledge of accurate Billing, Collection, Recovery across teams and various income streams.
  • Experience of the collection and recovery of a range of local authority debts and a broad knowledge of maximising revenue throughout the recovery cycle
  • Well-developed I.T. skills. There is a requirement to be familiar with Revenues and Benefits processing systems and Microsoft Office 365 applications particularly Excel and Word.

Experience and knowledge of a customer focused approach to service delivery, balanced with the needs of the service users.
