We’re looking for a Senior Risk Analyst to join our Payments Operations team. You will play an integral role in the preliminary risk assessment process. You will work within existing risk management policies, guidelines, standards and processes, providing feedback and input as part of a team to ensure these policies, guidelines, standards and processes are working to the best of their ability for Lightspeed and our Merchants

What you’ll be doing:

  • Identify, assess and report on transactional and settlement anomalies in accordance with internal and external policies and regulations.
  • Understand sub-merchant risk profiles,to help identify and mitigate high-risk merchants.
  • Communicate with Lightspeed customers during investigations via email and phone calls, keeping on top of communication to resolve tasks within a timely manner.
  • Monitor merchant activity for compliance violations and find solutions to resolve them.
  • Analyze the risks associated with the Merchant and their business model, offering solutions that strike the right balance between potential losses,customer impact and the cost of the solution.
  • Navigate through various web-service tools to investigate activity that may cause financial loss to Lightspeed or our customers and come to a final conclusion in an efficient manner; being prepared to have difficult conversations with Merchants about this activity.
  • Day to Day transaction monitoring and underwriting of our merchant’s card payments to ensure compliance, assessing credit risk to Lightspeed and fraud risk to the merchant.
  • Staying on top of ongoing fraud trends in the Payments Sphere, understanding what dangers exist for our Merchants and offering practical advice and support on how to avoid them.

What you need to bring:
We’re a team of 5 people located in North America and Europe. Our team is responsible for for protecting Lightspeed against financial and reputational Risks as well as protecting our merchants against Fraud and malicious customer activity.

We’re looking for a candidate who has experience with the following:

  • Experience in a Fraud prevention role and/or experience working at a payments provider, banking, or financial services technology company.
  • Previous credit or risk underwriting experience within the Card Payment Processing Sphere is a major plus.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel.
  • Proven aptitude and desire to learn new, complex concepts and systems.
  • Ability to make clear, diligent decisions based on multiple data points and risk factors.
  • Knowledge of Card Scheme rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across risk, sales and client groups and execute on priorities, influence change, and deliver results.
  • Good conceptual thinking with proven analytic, problem-solving and effective reporting skills.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Flexible work availability (evening shifts possible to mitigate Global Risk activities during holiday seasons).
  • Experience at a FinTech, Lending or within the Banking industry an asset.
