About this opportunity

Lloyds Bank Corporate Markets (LBCM), is the Group’s non-ring-fenced bank and a separate legal entity. It is a diverse, cross-jurisdictional business offering a range of products to many different client types. This role will focus on LBCM Crown Dependencies (“CD”) which provides:

  • Lending, deposits and cash management facilities for large corporate and financial institution clients.
  • Retail and business banking services to customers in Jersey, Guernsey, and the Isle of Man.
  • International Private Banking provides banking to customers who have an international deposit/bank account need.
  • Vehicle financing (and other lending facilities) through Black Horse Offshore Ltd.

LBCM Risk provide independent oversight across the end-to-end legal entity, on all financial risk types ensuring senior management and the LBCM Board can make informed decisions when considering the risk profile.
The local CD team is a second line of defence team providing oversight of the end-to-end CD business (including Credit, Economic Crime, Conduct, Compliance and Operational Risk). Working with the other LBCM Risk teams we provide proactive support, informative guidance, and constructive challenge relating to the CD profile and control environment. The team are experts in our field, proactively driving positive outcomes for our customers and colleagues. Through our oversight we provide valued insights and opinion for our executives and board.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team as Senior Manager, CCOR reporting directly into the CD Chief Risk Officer (CRO). Collaborating closely with the team, you’ll also manage a wide variety of stakeholders across the Crown Dependencies Islands, LBCM and the broader Group through the Shared Service Model. You’ll be responsible for overseeing the LBCM CD compliance with regulatory compliance requirements, specifically those relating to non-financial risks (excluding Economic Crime) including Conduct, that help build a sustainable control framework to support CD’s growth plans.

As a senior colleague within the team, you’ll be expected to devise, implement and execute the local Compliance Monitoring Plan. You’ll also analyse key themes using data from a wide range of sources and identify possible impacts on the business to deliver effective Risk oversight and challenge, as well as;

  • Support colleagues with the continuing embedding of One RCSA while ensuring adherence to regulatory and compliance standards.
  • Support the improvement of the control environment by coaching and mentoring others while pursuing and investing in opportunities for own personal development.
  • Identify shortcomings, then suggests and implements improvements to existing business practices, while developing and delivering projects or a work stream within the organisation’s change programmes.
  • Uncover emerging issues and/or needs and identifies potential causes, related issues, key partners and barriers.
  • Plan and coordinate testing and inspection of products and processes, then implements and supervises the efficiency of corrective actions and/or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support development of procedures and interprets and applies policies and then monitors implementation of those procedures within the Islands.
  • Recommend ways to improve support for operations by changing policies, processes, standards and practices.
  • Develop and/or deliver a contingency plan for significant aspects of the risk management and/or control process.
  • Identify shortcomings, suggest improvements, and implement approved revisions to current compliance processes, systems and procedures.

The role can be based in the Islands or the UK with regular business travel to the Islands, please note - Candidates for roles in Jersey, Guernsey and/or Isle of Man are required to hold specific right to work permissions to live & work in these jurisdictions which differ from the UK.

What You’ll Need
The role is multi-faceted and requires an ability to balance competing demands in a pressurised environment. You should have an in-depth existing knowledge of current and emerging local CD regulatory requirements and a desire to learn paired with outstanding written and verbal communication skills and the ability to influence senior management.

Key Capabilities / Skills:

  • A relevant professional qualification would be desirable.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to exercise diplomacy, influence and communicate at senior levels.
  • Understanding of Group and LBCM risk management and control frameworks and ability to navigate these to ensure compliance with Compliance policy and procedures.
  • Experience of working within a risk team either first line or second line
  • Initiative-taking in finding opportunities for, and champions change, to deliver continuous improvement to systems and processes.
  • Confidence in own ability and judgement as you may be required to deputise for the CD CRO as needed.
  • Demonstrates passion, enthusiasm and a ‘can do’ demeanour!
