Senior Scientist - Genomics

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Advanced Degree (ie. PhD preferred) in life science, biotechnology or medical technology. Post-doctoral experience is a plus.
• Passion for cutting edge technologies – especially Next Generation DNA sequencing (NGS) and long-read sequencing. Experience with spatial genomics is a plus.
• Comfortable in start-up environment and thrive on juggling multiple tasks in a fun and fast-paced setting
• Knowledge of laboratory regulatory and accreditation processes, such as ISO, CAP and QMS systems is a plus
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience leading a team is a plus.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking a senior, experienced molecular biologist and genomics scientist to join our new, cutting-edge genomics services company as a leader of our laboratory team working on long-read DNA sequencing and spatial genomics. We’re not just looking for the best candidate – but the right candidate. The ideal candidate should be passionate about genomics, biotechnology and new technology and have a strong desire to learn about the new advances in the industry, like long-read sequencing and spatial genomics. The Sr Scientist will be a member of the leadership team and oversee laboratory processes, as well as work with business development and customer support to deliver quality work to the end user. The Sr Scientist will also represent the company at conferences, events and actively engage with the community through social media and outreach.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with the leadership and scientific teams to set strategy for service offerings and marketing efforts.
• Oversee laboratory staff, hire appropriate personnel, participate in lab works and monitor progress of projects and workflows
• Engage with prospective customers to understand their needs and collaborate to deliver the best possible solutions for their projects
• Engage with technology vendors on the latest techniques and equipment that may become part of company offerings
• Support the organization and execution of events and conferences.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
