Location/Division Specific Information
We are a research, development, and production site in Bremen currently, with about 500 employees, whose “high-end” measurement and analysis instruments (mass spectrometers) are used in research and science worldwide. Our innovative products in the fields of Life Sciences MS and Inorganic MS, as well as Trace Elemental Analysis, are among the leading products globally in their respective markets. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Scientist to join our dynamic Research & Development team in Bremen.
A day in the Life:
Your tasks and responsibilities will be diverse and exciting, providing you with the opportunity to participate in product development projects across multiple sites worldwide. As part of a collaborative team, you will have the chance to contribute to various areas, including the development of system requirements specifications for new products in collaboration with product marketing. You will also be involved in executing feasibility experiments to demonstrate the proof of principle of new development concepts, and in developing and implementing measurement procedures and data analysis for the control, characterization, and optimization of high-resolution mass spectrometry instruments. This role offers a global perspective and the chance to work on cutting-edge projects that shape the future of our field, where different perspectives and talents come together to achieve common goals.

  • Conception and implementation of novel application solutions in the field of Life Science Mass Spectrometry
  • Ensure high experimental quality and deep theoretical penetration throughout all stages of product development
  • Embrace and overcome complex or novel challenges by developing effective solutions and execution strategies highlighting your problem-solving abilities.
  • Collaborate closely with your colleagues to optimize control software for novel mass spectrometry applications
  • Playing an important role in the product development process, ensuring clear and comprehensive documentation
  • Collaboratively apply principles, rules, and strategies related to intellectual property when drafting invention disclosures, patents, publications, and presentations, ensuring the protection of innovative ideas and technologies
  • Novel method development with internal and external collaborators

Experience and Education

  • Few years industrial or several years academic experience (Ph.D.) in advanced method development for Life Science mass spectrometry applications
  • Demonstrate hands-on expertise in LC-MS, sample preparation and cutting-edge method development
  • Automated processing and handling of large datasets with Python
  • Emphasize your strong flexibility to work collaboratively in a team as well as independently, demonstrating your ability to adapt to different work dynamics while maintaining a structured and detailed scientific approach.
  • Effective and efficient in writing software for instrument control and data evaluation using Python or other scripting languages.
