The Senior Security Officer is a pivotal role at Parliament House, Tasmania. This position requires the individual to lead and manage a team of 10 security staff, ensuring the safety and security of both Parliament House and Parliament House Square. The role demands exceptional leadership skills, a high level of vigilance, and a commitment to providing a secure environment for government assets, employees, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership and Management:
Supervise a team of security officers, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluation.
Oversee staff during operational hours, ensuring continuous security coverage and response capability.
Asset Protection:
Implement strategies to monitor and secure government assets.
Conduct risk assessments and update security protocols as needed.
Emergency Response Coordination:
Lead and coordinate emergency response efforts, liaising with police and emergency services.
Provide guidance and support in first aid and crisis management situations.
Surveillance Oversight:
Manage and maintain CCTV operations, ensuring effective surveillance.
Review security footage and oversee the preparation of detailed security reports.
Patrol Management:
Organize and lead regular foot patrols across both buildings to ensure comprehensive security coverage.
Evaluate patrol procedures and make adjustments for optimal security.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Act as the primary security contact for internal and external stakeholders.
Provide exceptional customer service and resolve security-related inquiries and issues.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure all security operations comply with relevant laws, regulations, and best practices.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of security legislation and standards.
Required Skills & Experience:
Leadership: Proven experience in leading and managing security teams.
Qualifications: Certificate II in Security Operations and a valid Security License.
First Aid Expertise: Current First Aid and CPR certification.
Background Check: A Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) check.
Work Rights: Full, unrestricted Australian working rights.
Customer Service: Strong background in customer service roles.
Communication Skills: Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.
Problem Solving: Ability to identify and resolve security-related issues effectively.
