Description:

Our client is seeking a Senior Service Designer to play a pivotal role in transforming how information about Pacific families is collected and utilised. This role is at the heart of a project that aims to improve outcomes for Pacific peoples by creating better visibility of outcomes and enabling providers to engage with families in a more holistic, family-centred way. What you’ll do:

As a Senior Service Designer, you will be instrumental in designing how Pacific family data is captured and used within a wider service landscape. You will facilitate this by weaving together people, processes, and technology that enable the end-to-end journey for Pacific data to be captured and used. Your role will involve gathering insight from Pacific providers, facilitating workshops with stakeholders, informing change and implementation strategies, and making recommendations based on evidence gathered throughout the pilot.

  • Ensure all work reflects our responsibilities towards equity and meeting Treaty of Waitangi obligations
  • Work with stakeholders to identify or ensure consensus around a service opportunity
  • Define the current state of the problem domain through research and observation
  • Provide insights into the current state from the perspectives of the customer, business, and technology
  • Transform those insights into target outcomes through which services can be created or modified
  • Create potential solutions for those outcomes
  • Validate candidate solutions through a hypothesis and test approach to ensure feasibility, viability, and desirability
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Design Practice
  • Build collaborative relationships with staff across the wider Agency, as well as with all key stakeholders both internally and externally

The ideal candidate for this Senior Service Designer role brings extensive experience in Service Design within large organisations. You possess an excellent understanding of Service Design fundamentals and know how to leverage them to create value for both businesses and customers. Your knowledge of human-centred tools and techniques such as Design Thinking, service blueprints, journey mapping will be crucial in this role. You are a strong communicator, able to present and defend decisions to various audiences. Your ability to work flexibly and resourcefully in complex environments under pressure will be key to your success.

  • Extensive experience in a Service Design role, ideally within a large organisation
  • Excellent understanding of the fundamentals of Service Design and how it creates business and customer value
  • Knowledge of appropriate human-centred tools and techniques (e.g., Design Thinking, service blueprints, journey mapping)
  • Strong communication skills with confidence and ability to present decisions appropriately to various audiences
  • Ability to work in an agile, flexible manner in complex environments under pressure
