Job Description

What will you be doing?
You will lead two teams of shipping managers and forwarding officers who are together responsible for the entire logistics process for global projects from sales stage until the delivery of goods to site.
Where needed, and in case of problems during execution, the Senior Manager Contracting & Routing and Forwarding continues to play a supporting and advisory role. He/she works as a business partner for both his own teams, the internal organization as well as the external stakeholders, including customers and suppliers
By acting proactively, he/she gives the customers peace of mind and also manages the expectations of the parties involved. Independently and with a drive to win projects are prepared successfully. guiding principle is that the order goes smoothly, on time, complete and delivered within budget.
Furthermore, as a Sourcing Manager, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining a reliable supplier base to support current and future projects. You define the strategy for the logistics categories and negotiate pricing and terms, and implement (framework) contracts with suppliers.
The shipping Manager works from Veghel and is willing to travel to when needed (max 10% of your time). He/She is part of the EU Physical Distribution management team and reports to the Director Physical Distribution.
Responsibilities

If you’re an experienced, enthusiastic and versatile Shipping Manager, you will excel at:

  • Determine and execute the logistics procurement strategy, global spend around 30 million yearly
  • Determine the transport and packaging costs and taxes and duties for projects and the associated risk assessment.
  • Negotiating with and selection of, the appropriate transport service providers

Develop project specific shipping plan and ensure the acceptance of the plan by the stakeholders. Including determining proper documentation for import and export shipments and to establish various cross trades

  • Lead together with the team leader forwarding and supporting the Forwarding team which is operationally executing the orders

General:

  • Steer on continuous improvement and KPI’s and improve sustainability within the teams
  • Identify, propose and implement process and logistical improvements. Translate wishes of (internal) customers and suppliers into solutions.
  • Remain up to date on developments in logistics by following training and maintaining logistical relations inside and outside Vanderlande.
  • Advise (globally) on Logistics, customs, export compliancy and in- and export related topics.

What do we ask from you?

  • HBO/WO educated in Supply Chain, Logistics or Operations
  • Minimum of 8 years relevant working experience as global shipping manager in a relevant international production logistical environment, including leading a team
  • Analytical and conceptual thinker on a strategic level
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Planning and organization
  • Pragmatic and result driven

  • Teamplay incl. high sense of urgency to support teams where needed
