Description:

You will join the Platform Team at Xeneta as a Senior Software Developer.
Our platform team empowers product teams to develop features independently, at speed, and with excellent developer experience - all while keeping their solutions modern, robust, and secure. The team works to constantly evolve shared AWS infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, local development stack, code security tooling, and more.

What you will be doing

  • Following Agile principles, you will combine independent work with collaboration within and across teams.
  • You will foster secure software development standards and best practices in pair programming, unit testing, code review, and monitoring by example, mentoring, and making it easier for developers to do the right thing.
  • You will communicate with developers in other teams to learn how they work, and you will find ways to improve their development experience and efficiency.
  • You will build shared libraries, frameworks, and tooling that improve developer experience for multiple teams.
  • You will assist engineers in fixing vulnerable code, configuring CI/CD pipelines, or setting up logging and monitoring.
  • You will learn to speak a common language with backend developers who use Python and SQL, frontend developers who rely on ReactJS, DevOps engineers working in AWS, and data scientists using dbt/Snowflake.

Your profile and experience

  • You have at least five years of experience as a Backend (or full-stack) Software Developer.
  • You are proficient in Python and SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL).
  • You have experience in using IaC (we are using Terraform), CI/CD, and essential AWS services.
  • You have experience with Docker and container orchestration.
  • You have experience with monitoring and improving application and code security.
  • You are a team player who believes in shared responsibility and empowering others.
  • You are equally excited about building new things and improving existing systems by solving complex people, processes, and technology problems.
  • Fluent in English: oral and written.
  • You’re located (or willing to relocate) near Oslo (Norway) - we will help you with relocation.

If you are not already authorized to work in Norway, a Bachelor’s or a Master’s in a relevant field is necessary.

Nice to have

  • AWS certifications
  • DevOps experience
  • JavaScript and ReactJS experience

What we offer

  • We will help you grow your career: We help you identify areas of growth for you, whether you want to grow as a specialist in your field or eventually want to go into a leadership/management role.
  • We have a transparent and open work environment where everyone is empowered to make an impact and encouraged to voice their ideas.
  • Keeping true to our value, “Xeneta is one,” we regularly organize social events, including global company trips, breakfast gatherings, Friday after-work-socials, and weekly quizzes.
  • You will enjoy our generous vacation plan: 5-10 extra paid days off around public holidays throughout the year and 5 weeks of paid vacation.
  • You will receive an individual education budget and can educate yourself during work hours: you can spend several hours each month attending courses, reading books or getting involved in communities.
  • We value work-life balance and want to make sure you can spend quality time with your family or enjoy your hobbies when your workday is over.
  • We will help you relocate to Oslo if you are applying from abroad. We will provide you with a temporary apartment and reimburse your expenses for the relocation flight, permit and visa fees.

Xeneta is an equal opportunity employer.
We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
    About Xeneta
At Xeneta, we have been on a mission to transform the ocean and air freight markets since 2012. We are doing this by building a data platform that provides intelligence to the very opaque industry of buying and selling containerized freight. Now, Xeneta is the leading freight rate benchmarking and market analytics platform—creating transparency and empowering our customers to make data-driven decisions.
Our customers include big brands such as Kuehne+Nagel, Coca-Cola Company, Unilever, Pfizer, Flexport, L’Oreál, Nestlé, and Volvo.
Headquartered in Oslo, with offices in Hamburg and Jersey City and employees from over 60 different countries, we are a truly international company that celebrates diversity. We’re growing at a fast pace, helped in part by our latest investment round where APAX Digital invested $80M, and we are continuously searching for top talent and partners to join us on our mission.
