WHAT WILL I BE DOING?

We are seeking a creative engineer passionate about analyzing and communicating technical logs, work with internal and external stakeholders to solve challenging problems that meet and exceed customer requirements. The candidate will use the best industry standard tools to meet changing business needs and will be core to the development and deployment of solutions for GridBeyond’s customers and clients.

  • Take the role of a Support Engineer in the Deployment team to support products that serve business opportunities in current and new markets, while evolving and iterating on existing solutions.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, Customer’s technical team to gather information about issues and observations, provide first line cover on triaging, liaise with Product team, and Project manager to escalate issues as needed.
  • Ability to read and understand technical software, hardware and market logs.
  • Working with the Product Team to identify opportunities to improve the existing solution, recommending the incorporation of new technologies and approaches where appropriate team.
  • Contribute ideas to help ensure that required standards and processes are in place and actively look for opportunities to enhance and innovate solutions and improve process efficiency.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • 5+ Years working as a Support Engineer.
  • Demonstrable success in supporting high availability, high performance, scalable applications.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment
  • Excellent communicator (written and verbal), comfortable working with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Understanding of Energy Markets, predominantly interfacing with AEMO across the NEM and WEM markets, bonus points for interfacing with transpower (New Zealand) or any of the OCCTO’s in Japan.
  • Analytical and passionate about problem-solving, system design, and software triaging
  • Ability to innovate and develop new approaches to complex design problems

The following experience would be advantageous but not a requirement:

  • Experience with multi-threaded/ Async applications
  • Experience working in an energy-related industry combined with a passion for energy sustainability and innovation
  • Bonus: Exposure to automation or control systems / PID / SCADA
  • Bonus: Can speak Japanese
  • Knowledge of protocols such as MQTT, ICCP, OpenADR, FTP/SFTP and other standard protocols used within the Energy industry
  • Knowledge of standard communication protocols such as MODBUS is a bonus.
  • Knowledge of energy domain principles; kW, kWh, frequency, voltag

WHAT’S THIS ROLE ABOUT?

To continue on our worldwide growth path, we are establishing our customer support engineering team.
We are seeking an experienced Senior engineer with a proven track record in a technical support engineer role capable of understanding the system design and operation. This candidate will join GridBeyond’s Deployment team engaging with internal and external stakeholders, product and project managers, and members of the customer’s technical team and will contribute to supporting GridBeyond’s Smart Grid Platform through the evolving needs of the business.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BE A GOOD TECHNICAL FIT FOR THIS ROLE?

A qualification in the Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or Management Information Systems field is highly desirable.

The following experience would be advantageous but not a requirement:
