Your department
Vanderlande’s warehousing solutions are the first choice for major e-commerce players across the globe, helping them to fulfil their promise of same-day delivery for billions of orders. In addition, 9 of the 15 largest global food retailers rely on Vanderlande’s efficient and reliable solutions. Our airport’s baggage handling systems are installed in over 600 airports around the globe.
All those systems generate data, and the Digital Service Platform department is leading the company digital transformation, developing data-driven services to provide advanced insights for our customers. You will work on using data for Predictive Maintenance, together with a team of data scientists, data engineers, developers and UX designers.
Your position
You will be working in the Predictive Maintenance team, a multi-disciplinary agile team (co-located in the Netherlands and India) which is focused on solutions using Anomaly Detection. You will be working alongside Data Engineers, Data Scientists, DevOps Engineers, Frontend Developers, a UX designer, an Architect, a Scrummaster, and a Product Owner. As a Senior Software Developer, you will fulfill a central position for the effective delivery of our Predictive Maintenance solutions.
Vanderlande has a wide portfolio of solutions, which brings a lot of opportunities in collecting data and deploying predictive solutions, but also challenges related to creating software products with re-usable software components to reduce development and deployment time.
Together with the Product Owner and the other team members you will ensure implementation of solutions that can be reused across multiple products and solutions. You will need to align with the SMEs across the companies to understand how products work, and with the architects within our department to ensure that the Predictive Maintenance product can seamlessly fit in with the broader department architecture.
Through predictive solutions, the Digital Service Platform aims at optimizing customers’ assets usage and maintenance, impacting their performance, cost and sustainability KPIs by expanding the lifetime of the components.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • You will work together with your team on developing predictive maintenance solutions, translating together with the team the business requirements and priorities from the product owner to concrete development activities.
  • You act proactively in bringing things together technically within the team.
  • You will support the agile teams in self-organizing around the topics planned for the next PI/sprint, according to the priorities from the PO and from the team.
  • You will collaborate with experts in your department to ensure the teams can use various types of data for building pipelines, models, and showing the resulting insights in dashboards.
  • You will provide input for the re-usable architecture for our predictive solutions (mainly based on anomaly detection), which is aligned with the broader architecture of our Digital Service Platform.
  • You will participate/support in productizing and deploying data pipelines and algorithms together with the data engineers.
  • You will develop back-end systems and APIs, to ensure the Digital Service insights can be visualized in the Frontend applications and Portal.
  • You will need to keep up with advancements in the field of software engineering, and possibly in data engineering and data science or other related fields, depending on your profile and specific tasks.
  • You will closely work together with distributed teams.

Your profile

  • You have extensive practical knowledge of data pipelines, architecture design patterns, and possibly event-driven architecture, which you can demonstrate through your work experience, relevant degrees, or personal projects.
  • You are familiar working with Apache Spark for data transformations and modeling.
  • You are experienced in solving real-world problems and have successfully put data-driven solutions into production with proven value.
  • You have back-end (databases, data pipelines, application, APIs) development knowledge. Java and/or Python knowledge is required.
  • You have a strong knowledge of Cloud computing, including practical experience setting up cloud resources. Strong Azure is knowledge is preferred.
  • You show leadership within the team, and enjoy helping other team members understanding how to take the next step when necessary.
  • You have experience working with colleagues located in different parts of the world.
  • Nice-to-have: you are experienced with working on predictive maintenance topics and/or machine learning.
  • You are fluent in English, Dutch is a nice-to-have.

This position offers a competitive salary range of € 5287 to € 7300 gross per month (excluding 8% holiday allowance). Through exceeding performance expectations, you even have the possibility to grow outside this scale.
