The Hive team are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Software Engineer who knows Java. Hive develops solutions for controlling and integrating everything in the home. We’re connecting to your heating, smart plugs, light bulbs, sensors, solar batteries, heat pumps and more. The Abstraction Team develops code that runs the connectivity layer on the Hive Hub, which lives in millions of homes across the UK.
Location: You can work in Windsor/home; we have people working all over the UK but also a range of office locations.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:

• Experience with an object orientated language, design patterns, and multi-threaded development
• Commercial experience with Java SE and Java build tools such as Maven and Gradle
• Experience in designing robust, highly scalable systems
• Commercial experience with Git or other DVCSs
• Commercial experience with test frameworks at different levels of integration
• Experience of working in an agile environment
• Experience with radio and IP based protocols
• Commercial experience with Linux environments and familiarity with cloud computing infrastructure
