The Senior Software Engineer is an expert in multiple coding languages and development platforms, within the Product function, responsible for their individual performance to complete software development projects/tasks on-time that add value to the Retail Group products for acquisition and retention of clients. The competency and skill requirements for expected performance in this role include Management, Counsel, Communication, Deliverable Creation, Presentation, Insight and Research skills. The primary goal for this role is to deliver software development projects/tasks on time and achieve all defined requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Understand Retail Group business processes and product architecture, source code, features, and value to collaborate in planning and delivery of software development projects/tasks.
  • Assume ownership of day-to-day management for specific products as needed.
  • Participate in Agile and SCRUM meetings by providing clear communication of research results, technical knowledge, industry insights and status updates to prioritize work, identify risk, and project status to deliver projects/task on-time.
  • Design, develop, validate, and release software code using engineering skills as part of an Agile team.
  • Provide accurate estimates for software development projects/tasks to enable on-time delivery of product solutions.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of development best practices and product architecture.
  • Perform root cause analysis for reported production issues with clearly defined investigation steps, results, and recommendations using logs, internal tooling, and source code, while proactively identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records in software development management tools.
  • Collaborate with other functions across the Retail Group to drive product understanding and identify product improvements.

Primary Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in C#
  • 2-3 years building ASP.NET Web Applications
  • 2-3 years of experience with SQL Server or similar
  • 1 year experience with Microsoft Azure
  • Intermediate debugging skills: visual debugger, log statements,
  • Skilled at translating unexpected code states/transitions into reproduction steps
  • Knowledge of event loops and async coding patterns
  • Experience with package managers (i.e. NuGet)
  • Working knowledge of web protocols: HTTP
  • Experience manipulating web request/responses with Fiddler, Postman, or similar

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in the Retail POS & Inventory Management industry
  • Familiarity with Application Insights
  • 3-5 years experience managing Azure services
  • Familiarity with ASP.NET Boilerplate framework
  • Experience with mobile app development using Cordova
