Description:

Laerdal Labs is seeking a smart Software Engineer with strong foundational knowledge who is ready to take a step forward in their career. You will be working alongside a strong team of Software Engineers, QA Engineers and Product experts helping develop our industry leading platform. As a member of the team, you’ll be presented with new challenges as you help expand and improve our product offerings. Our team culture can be described as creative and passionate, but relaxed. We’re engineering driven from the top down, and have built an environment that allows us to deliver the best product.
Our software platform is a unique mix of technologies as we firmly believe in using the best technology for the job. You’ll be working with exciting video tools and IoT technologies using Python, but also with our primary web application stack, which includes ReactJS, NodeJS, PostgreSQL, and many AWS tools. Our engineers typically “own” features they’re working on and build them from top-to-bottom, which means a solid understanding of core Object Oriented Programing (OOP) design, MVC, and other architectural concepts is a must.
We simply love providing a consumer level customer experience in healthcare, where all the complexities behind the scenes are just that: behind the scenes.

What we are looking for:

  • 5+ years of experience in software development
  • At least 2-3 years with Python
  • At least 2-3 years working with cloud architecture, in AWS or an equivalent cloud offering
  • Comfort designing and building complex applications from the ground up
  • You’ve created the prototype for a major component and taken it all the way to production
  • Familiarity with various languages, patterns, or deployment strategies and ability to compare and contrast them Skill to write clean, performant, and safe code
  • Solid understanding of modern software development and design.
  • Examples include relational database design, multithreaded applications, security, and asynchronous APIs
  • Experience reviewing code, mentoring, and giving quality feedback to more junior engineers
  • Comfort with pragmatic software development – deliver an MVP early and iterate on it
  • Non-complacent and inquisitive mindset.
  • Love for coding and a good challenge.
  • Like the freedom and responsibility of owning what you’re working on.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, and a desire to share knowledge and collaborate with others.
  • Pluses: BS in Computer Science or relevant engineering discipline, experience with ReactJS, C++, Gstreamer, Ffmpeg, AWS CDK, AWS or similar cloud technologies, and a shared hatred of JIRA (sorry product managers!).

Our mission statement
To enhance medical simulation training and improve patient safety by providing the best tools for data capture, visualization, and analysis.
