  • Are you a results-driven professional with a track record in managing the sale of complex, high-value mechanical or industrial solutions - or a Design Engineer / Project Manager who is seeking an opportunity to transition into sales leadership?

  • Can you develop and manage multi-level customer relationships and lead project teams to design winning materials handling solutions for major corporate clients?

Our customer is a major global player in the design and delivery of major intralogistics / automated warehouse systems. Already a top-5 provider here is Australia and following 2 years of significant growth, they have now created a new sales leadership role with the brief to accelerate high-value (typically $10-50m project values) solutions sales in one of their fastest-growing market segments.

Using their knowledge in automated materials handling, the new appointee will develop strong, trusted customer relationships and understand their near-term and future requirements. They will articulate high-level concept solutions and lead internal project teams in the detailed design and successful sales of integrated solutions. Specifically, they will:

  • Develop and maintain customer relationships for dedicated accounts.
  • Proactively present the company’s cutting-edge solutions to existing and new customers.
  • Identify and develop commercially viable business leads
  • Prepare and deliver high-level technical, strategic presentations.
  • Evaluate client requirements with management guidance to determine the most efficient sales strategy and to identify possible solutions and determine the most economical solution.
  • Lead system design team within projects.
  • Develop suitable concepts to provide a comparison and recommendation including investment, operational cost, constraints etc.
  • Prepare budget and fixed price proposals and manage the processes with internal and external parties.
  • Prepare proposal documentation and pricing for projects.
  • Negotiate proposal with customer and “close the deal”.
  • Effectively handover projects to realisation work as required by the line manager or business

About you
If you are not currently an experienced sales/consulting professional in complex, integrated industrial systems (MHS, BHS, manufacturing systems, vertical transportation or similar) you have been looking for an opportunity to use your industrial automation design or project management experience to transition into a sales leadership position. It is likely that you have a tertiary qualification in mechanical engineering or mechatronics and:

Essential

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the application and design of automation systems and mechanical equipment
  • Previous team management or sales leadership experience
  • Strong client-facing stakeholder engagement and presentation skills
  • Strong data interpretation and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent business acumen and the ability to think both conceptually and strategically
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and listening skills.

Further experience in any of the following would be highly regarded but is not essential:

  • Knowledge of one or more of the core industry streams such as Retail, e-Commerce, Temperature Controlled Food.
  • Experience in DC operations
  • Automated Highbay warehousing
  • Carton and Pallet conveyors
  • Robotic handling
  • Carton and Tote storage systems
  • Automated and Manual Picking solutions
  • Project integration
  • Demonstrated understanding of warehouse processes and functionality
