The RSC are expanding our workforce to build a team for an exciting summer season. This is a new role, and we are seeking passionate individuals to create memorable dining experiences for all visitors coming to the RSC.
As a Senior Sous Chef, you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate closely with the Head Chef on leading the team and showcasing your talent in a dynamic environment where creativity and innovation thrive. Working closely with our Head Chef, duties will include:

  • Leading the food offer with our Head chef. Rotating the menus on offer, both seasonally and in line with the changing artistic programme.
  • Supervising and managing the kitchen team to include the management of the day-to-day operation and deputising for the Head chef.
  • Ensuring compliance with all food hygiene and associated legislative regulations.
  • Ensuring and supporting a strong Health and Safety culture that is embedded within the kitchen brigade.
  • Meet and exceed the agreed GP budget each month.
  • To constantly look at ways of maximising income through creative food management and merchandising via effective and proactive purchasing.
  • Deliver of all food and menu items in line with budgetary and quality standards
  • Assist the Head Chef in managing the financial aspects of the department. Including -food costings / weekly management of the GP / forecasting sales and projected labour costs for the kitchen. Monitoring of wastage
  • Being a key member of the Catering Management team, being a role model providing the link between the front of house and the kitchen, liaising with colleagues to deliver an exceptional experience for our customers.

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Previous experience of working within a high volume and quality food environment
  • A passion for food and using the best ingredients.
  • Strong leadership skills, a motivated and inspiring person
  • Proven ability in the management of people and/or kitchens
  • Clear communication skills
  • A pro-active approach with the ability to work flexibly, multi-task and deliver in a pressured environment.
  • Appropriate Food Safety Qualifications and be able to demonstrate high standards of health and safety practice

We are proud to produce all our food in-house in Stratford-upon-Avon so you can use your skills to create delicious meals within a unique theatre environment.
This is a full-time, permanent position based in Stratford-upon-Avon. You will be working 48 hours per week, five days out of seven. This will include some evening and weekend work.
