Job Title: Senior Specialist, Cancer Prevention

Salary Band: 5 ($56,000- $84,000 CAD)
One-year contract role
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary education in the fields of health promotion, public health, or social work or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Project management or Program Management are an asset.
- 3+ years experience working within a non-profit or community service setting, experience in a multi-level, non profit organization is preferred.
- Experience leading health-related projects or programs.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health promotion approaches and strategies related to cancer prevention and screening for diverse populations.
- Demonstrated program/project management skills.
- Demonstrated relationship building and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, strategic thinking, and communication skills
- Strong ability to problem-solve and reach sound resolutions.
- Strong initiative and capacity to work independently, balanced with teamwork.
- Program evaluation experience and asset.
Responsibilities:
Lead and/or support provincial, territorial and national health promotion initiatives related to primary and secondary cancer prevention.
- Apply health promotion principles, theory and research to identify options for health promotion initiatives.
- Lead cross-functional teams to plan, implement and evaluate health promotion initiatives that align with project objectives and budget guidelines.
- Support proposal & funding development including identification of relevant initiatives, literature review, grant writing and funder communications.
- Strengthen community capacity to implement health promotion initiatives.
Communication and Partnership Development:
- Work collaboratively with partners to enhance impact and sustainability of programs and services.
- Identify opportunities that enhance CCS’s current projects and priorities.
- Build relationships with key stakeholders and participate in external coalitions and working groups.
- Communicate health messages effectively with diverse audiences
Represent Cancer Prevention on Internal committees:
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure Cancer Prevention Department goals are achieved.
- Represent the Cancer Prevention team on internal working groups on specific topics to ensure alignment across the organization.
- Actively contribute to our culture of justice, belonging, equity, diversity, and inclusion by ensuring that all staff feel represented and heard regardless of their gender, age, religion, ethnicity, and nationality or race.
