QUALIFICATIONS:

Degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably with a focus on high voltage systems. Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD considered.
Experience with high voltage cable systems, particularly in design and installation aspects.
Familiarity with Extruded HVDC cables is advantageous.
Proficiency in Mathcad calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEM) methods is a plus.
Strong communication skills in English; knowledge of Norwegian and/or French is beneficial.

TEAM AND ROLE OVERVIEW:

In this role, you will join our dynamic team within the HVDC Extruded department at Nexans. Comprised of highly skilled professionals, our team in Norway is responsible for project engineering related to subsea cable systems. You will collaborate closely with diverse team members and report to a Team Lead within the department. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative solutions in the transition to renewable energy while pushing technological boundaries in cable design and installation.
Nexans is looking for a broad spectre of candidates with electrical engineering background, ranging from junior to specialist.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collaborate in the design of cable systems tailored to customer needs, ensuring detailed design specifications.
Design cables capable of withstanding various installation conditions, including those necessitating burial.
Perform calculations and analyses for all installation scenarios.
Qualify designs through test programs, including drafting test procedures, planning, and execution.
Prepare specifications for production and facilitate handover to manufacturing facilities.

Joining our HVDC Extruded department in Norway means becoming part of a highly skilled and diverse team responsible for project engineering related to subsea cable systems. Based in Oslo or Halden, you’ll have the flexibility to work partially from home and report to a Team Lead within the department.
