Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS) is seeking Senior Stability and Control Engineers to join the Flight Systems Engineering Capability team in St. Louis, Missouri.
Our teams are currently hiring Aerodynamics Stability and Control Engineers for a broad range of experience levels including Mid-level, and Lead. Aerodynamics Stability and Control engineers are essential to the development, safety and success of our products and solutions. Each day, they go above and beyond to meet our customers’ overall mission requirements—from initial vehicle concept definition through design, test, validation, and in-service support. Your expertise in Aerodynamics will drive the future of aerospace.
Would you be interested in working on an aircraft carrier to support the unmanned aerial-refueling MQ-25 vehicle? Or flight testing of prototype and production manned and unmanned vehicles? How about creating and running state-of-the-art vehicle simulations of the T-7 Redhawk and supporting flight and ground tests to verify predicted vehicle performance? The Flight Systems Engineering Capability is an exciting organization in Boeing Defense, Space & Security responsible for performing Flight Engineering across a large portfolio of products and development programs. Product areas within the Flight Systems Capability in the St. Louis/St. Charles region include Fighter Aircraft, Unmanned Aircraft, and Missiles/Weapons Systems. The set of specialized capabilities and skills maintained by our teammates are the foundation of what defines the majority of our Boeing products; things that FLY! The St. Louis region is continuing to grow, and Flight Engineering is looking for motivated, talented engineers to join the Boeing team on the exciting programs located in this region. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 3+ years of experience in an engineering related role
  • 3+ years of experience with Aerodynamics Stability & Control
  • Experience conducting flight or wind tunnel testing

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • 7 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of aerodynamic design and analysis principles, processes, and methods for flight vehicles and their components
  • Experience with aero database development
  • Experience with 6 degree-of-freedom simulation prediction tools
  • Experience with aerodynamic configuration characteristics assessment
  • Experience with root-cause analysis and development of corrective actions
  • Listens effectively; demonstrates understanding; clarifies meaning for others; speaks and writes with clarity and precision; able to communicate with a diverse audience
  • Effectively manages one’s time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently
  • Experience in team building and motivating and engaging team members
  • Skilled in guiding and influencing employees to meet schedules or resolve problems
    Typical Education/Experience:
    Level 3: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
    Level 4: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years’ related work experience, Master+7 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs aerodynamic/aerothermodynamics design and analysis of flight vehicles to ensure that the vehicle meets requirements.
  • Key contributor to developing new and improving existing technologies, tools and processes to enhance technology readiness, improve vehicle performance and reduce cycle time and cost.
  • Conducts, coordinates and/or develops test requirements to meet test objectives using established processes.
  • Assesses the impact of proposed regulations to determine the effect on cost, performance, producibility, maintainability and safety.
  • Supports certification and qualification processes of the aerodynamic/ aero thermal characteristics of flight vehicles. Assists in training others. Works under general supervision.
