St Andrew’s community services offer supportive transition that are innovative “own front door” single occupancy, bespoke properties, and registered under St Andrew’s Healthcare. Each Supportive Transition Service (STS) provides an individualised person centred approach for complex individuals who otherwise do not have a route out of hospital.
A role at Billing Lodge represents a real opportunity to support individuals through a transition period from hospital. Treatment programmes involve significant periods of time outside and are firmly focused on supporting community reintegration.

St Andrew’s Healthcare is a charity providing specialist mental healthcare for patients with some of the most complex mental health needs in the UK. We provide care across a number of services including Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), Brain Injury, Dementia and Huntington’s Disease, Autistic Spectrum Disorder and Learning Disability and Autism, Low Secure and PICU (Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit) and Medium Secure including the Deaf Service.

SOME OF THE MAIN DUTIES OF A SENIOR STAFF NURSE ARE TO:

• Plan, organise and deploy staff according to competencies and workload in order to meet patient needs.
• Develop, implement, review and promote the importance of effective outcome focused care plans to meet individual preferences and needs, attending and contributing to ward rounds.
• Effectively communicate with all MDT members, taking positive risks to manage the care environment and reduce the use of restrictive practices.
• Build and monitor ongoing relationships with patients, their families and carers to encourage trust, whilst listening to and interpreting their needs and concerns.
• Ensure all patient records, records of risk and interventions that have been taken, are up to date and accurate.
• Use refection and supervision to learn from events and generate opportunities to improve patient outcomes.
• Receive and provide clinical supervision.
• Support the division to deliver specific outcome measures.
• Complete required ward audits in line with the Clinical Governance strategy.
  Due to the physical requirements of this role and the support we provide to our service users, successful candidates must meet minimum requirements of physical capability, including an ability to sit, stand and kneel for a prolonged period of time as well as the ability to transition between kneeling, sitting and standing with ease.
