Description:
This post is based at Bath Street and CCL, 55 Moorgate. Moorfields is one of the world’s leading eye hospitals, providing expertise in clinical care, research and education.
The successful applicant will be responsible for assessment of care needs of patients, planning of care, implementation and evaluation of these without direct supervision, will need to be pro active and willing to develop their skills and knowledge further.
You will be a key resourceful member in relation to the development of practice on the ward.
You will be working independently/autonomously and at times without direct supervision, accountable for their own professional actions and keeping their registration up to date.
Ensuring the safety and well-being of service users, and always working in a manner that promotes dignity and human rights through the adoption of person centred care principles.
To assist the service as an expert ophthalmic clinical practitioner and ensure staff have the appropriate skills necessary to care for the designated patient group.
Demonstrate appropriate skills in performing Ophthalmic assessment, history taking and performing Ophthalmic diagnostic examinations. Able to gather ophthalmic and general medical history.
Assist in the provision of evidence based nursing practice in other ophthalmic services as required.
Facilitate a high quality, cost effective specialist service through monitoring and audit and other quality initiatives agreed by the Trust
Attend and participate in multi-professional team meetings.
To help ensure that the learning environment and specialist training is provided for the benefit of all staff and that evidence based practice is incorporated and utilised in the teaching environment
To assist the Matron and Nurse Manager in developing a culture that is challenging, stimulating, rewarding and supportive.
Promote and participate in nursing research updating own knowledge to promote excellence in clinical practice
Be a role model and demonstrate specialist knowledge and high standards of clinical practice and provide support or advice when necessary.
Develop the role according to patients changing needs and research findings, within the resources available.
This post is to work at Moorfields Private Outpatient Clinic (MPOC), CCL-Moorfields, Private Day Surgery and Day Case Unit.
