Description:

The Teenage and Young Adult Service is based in a specialist unit on the 3rd floor of the state-of-the-art UCH Macmillan Cancer Centre and provides chemotherapy & supportive care Day Care, Ambulatory Care and Outpatients services for patients aged 13 to 24 years old. The unit consists of consulting rooms, treatment areas, and a recreation area known as the Teenage Cancer Trust Hub.

We have a dedicated multidisciplinary team providing care for young people and operate the largest clinical service for teenagers in Europe. Our Children and Young People’s Cancer service is at the forefront of specialist clinical practice and offers a unique opportunity to develop nursing skills and knowledge in this field
We are looking for an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic nurse to join our team in the Teenage and Young Adult Daycare and Ambulatory Care Unit.
You must be a band 5 or band 6 nurse (paediatric or adult) with at least 2 years of oncology experience. You must also be proficient in chemotherapy administration. You will have the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills in caring for teenagers and young adults with a wide range of oncology and haematology conditions in a day care and ambulatory care setting.
You will be required to demonstrate experience and skills in this area and have leadership, development and organisation skills in order to co-ordinate safe efficient delivery of care to this patient group. You will also be required to demonstrate an understanding of the importance of delivering care to this patient group in an age appropriate setting and have a desire to work with teenagers and young adults.
