About the role
We are seeking a values-driven Senior Store Manager who will provide leadership, mentoring, supervision and support to all of the Cairns Corps Family Stores in line with The Salvation Army mission and values. The role facilitates good management in all areas of each Family Store, including the development of mission emphases, an ethos of excellence in customer service and a high level of efficiency in operations. The stores are located in Cairns, Innisfail, Normanton and Mornington Island and involves rostering staff across these stores.

You will successfully

  • Provide leadership and management to Store Managers, Warehouse Supervisors and Shop Assistants regarding day-to-day operations of the Family Stores, managing rosters, ensuring the store is operating at an optimum level, liaising with any relevant TSA department as needed to support store operations.
  • Support Managers with recruitment, onboarding and training of employees and Mission Volunteers, liaising with HR/VR team and in line with TSA policies and procedures
  • Be the first point of reference in relation to escalation of complaints or grievances, in line with TSA policies and procedures, liaising with HR Department as required.
  • In liaison with Managers and relevant PR teams, create and implement effective marketing and sales campaigns to assist achieve sales targets, in line with TSA policies and procedures.
  • Regularly liaise with Managers/Supervisors to ensure adequate and accurate pricing and display of goods, and the removal and disposal of inappropriate/old stock.

You will have

  • Proven experience in retail management, ideally 5years +
  • Demonstrated people management skills with an emphasis on volunteers and the community
  • Sound presentation and communication skills (both oral and written) to be able to interact and network positively with a variety of people
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
  • Experience in mentoring/training and managing staff
  • Current valid Driver’s Licence
  • A national police record check is required
  • Self-motivated and a strong work ethic
  • First aid certificate or willingness to obtain one
  • Incumbent needs to have a reasonable level of fitness in order to carry out the duties of this position

This is a full-time, permanent position located in Cairns, QLD. Salary and conditions in accordance with the General Retail Award Level 8
