You will excel in a team environment, working effectively with various stakeholders to achieve common goals. You will also have:

  • Degree in Economics, Finance, Commerce, Actuarial Science, Engineering, or a related field, preferably at the postgraduate level.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of global economics and financial markets.
  • Proficient in asset pricing models and their applications and / or prior experience with external manager selection and implementation
  • Proven ability to solve complex asset allocation problems and provide actionable recommendations.
  • In-depth understanding of portfolio construction principles.
  • Familiarity with international data information systems (e.g., Datastream, Bloomberg, FactSet) and in-house data warehouse and performance measurement systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work productively as a team member, influence outcomes, and lead junior team members to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Strong initiative, planning, and time management skills with the ability to work independently.

The key accountabilities are not limited to but include:

  • Create and refine both directional and non-directional asset allocation strategies using systematic and fundamental frameworks.
  • Develop and oversee metrics that inform top-down portfolio decisions, ensuring effective risk and portfolio management.
  • Contribute to the build out and implementation of our external manager program across tail risk hedging, Macro and broader Diversifying Alternative Strategies
  • Regularly observe international economic and financial market developments, particularly those impacting portfolios across all asset classes.
  • Improve portfolio design and modelling processes, including proprietary models and technologies, to maintain competitive performance

Responsibilities:

We are currently seeking an experienced investment professional with a strong track record in developing and implementing portfolio strategies to join our State Investments team based in either Brisbane or Sydney on a on an open term, permanent basis.
Reporting to the Investment Director, the role of Senior Strategist will play a leading role within the State Investments research program and the development of strategic tilting, tail risk hedging and /or fund to fund allocation / implementation of investment management processes.
You will possess excellent research and analytical skills, leadership experience, and the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively.
