The OpenNMS Group is looking for a Support & Solutions Engineer to join our team. We’re focused on growing our established world class open-source network monitoring solution in use by numerous Fortune 500 companies. This is a key role acting as a technical liaison between customers and the Company, with a focus on addressing customer needs.
In this role, you will bring your knowledge of system engineering and network / monitoring to provide support for our enterprise customers OpenNMS network monitoring platform implementations.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leverage your experience in designing and implementing monitoring solutions using OpenNMS and other tools to address customer monitoring needs.
  • Design, build, support, and help maintain production ready environments for OpenNMS and its major big data application dependencies.
  • Handle support questions and resolve customer issues.

Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or relevant alternative professional experience
  • Proven 5+ years of experience in a support or solutions engineering role.
  • Hands-on experience with scripting and automation is a definite plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • A great attitude and a hunger for problem solving.
  • Strong Linux and containerized environment skills.
  • Design, implementation, and problem-solving knowledge of one or more of the following (for production-ready clusters):
  • Kafka
  • PostgreSQL
  • Cassandra
  • Elasticsearch
  • Cortex
  • Additional beneficial skills include knowledge of:
  • Grafana
  • Kubernetes / Openshift / Helm Chart
  • Azure/AWS
  • Good knowledge and understanding of programming language concepts, specifically Java and/or Python.
  • Knowledge of OpenNMS and/or other Network Monitoring solutions is a plus (but don’t worry – we will train you on OpenNMS!)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and good interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Strong independent work ethic and experience working in a dynamic culture.

The salary range for remote US-based applicants for this position is below. The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications, prior experience as well as geographic location.

  • $80,000 - $98,000 base salary, plus bonus potential.
