Amentum is actively seeking Senior Systems Engineer with a background in Navy shipboard and/or submarine systems maintenance and/or design to help maintain former Navy and Coast Guard ships. Locations for this role include San Diego, CA, Washington, DC, and Norfolk, VA. This role will be hybrid (combined remote and on-site).
Estimate Hiring salary range: $119-159k (salary rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data).

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or 8 years of technical experience as equivalent.
8 years of hands-on experience with systems covered as a former US Navy or US armed forces technician. 5 years of working experience in ship maintenance.
Industry-related experience, which includes experience in shipbuilding or maintenance.
Ability to travel CONUS and OCONUS (up to 25%). Ability to obtain a United States Passport.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Ability to work onsite and remote.
Ability to obtain a Secret US government clearance. Note: US citizenship is required to obtain a secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience and expertise in the following Navy shipboard systems:
C5I systems and sensors
SONAR systems Combat Systems Seawater, Freshwater, and HVAC systems
CHT Systems
Shipboard hydraulics (steering, pitch control, auxiliary)
Lube oil systems
Marine Gas Turbines (electrical and/or mechanical) and fuel systems
Propulsion train components and Diesel Engines.
Electrical distribution and controllers (including PLCs)
Weapons systems (shipboard)

Responsibilities:

Mentor junior personnel assigned, when assigned.
Develop Troubleshooting plans for systems for urgent repairs.
Verify compliance with systems engineering principles, integration approaches, and accepted NAVSEA maintenance program fundamentals.
Support engineering evaluations of shipboard systems.
Develop and approve maintenance plans, test procedures, and troubleshooting plans for ships systems repair, upgrade, or maintenance.
Review and evaluate work specifications as requested by the project manager and/or Lead Engineer based on technical risk and the quality management plan for the assigned availability.
Review non-standard test procedures that are called out in a work specification as required and verify that individual work to test relationships are accurately captured in the test plan.
Coordinate with shipboard and waterfront personnel to effect repairs to subject systems. May require working onboard ships at times.
Direct and oversee maintenance of shipboard systems and controllers onboard former US NAVY/USCG ships and craft.
Prepare all required products including certification PowerPoint, Lead Engineer certification memos, and other supporting documents.
