Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of managing and enhancing our client’s internal environment. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide array of tasks, including optimizing IT systems, overseeing complex networking setups, and identifying and addressing capacity and availability challenges. You’ll collaborate closely with the Engineering team to integrate new technologies and drive the migration of legacy systems to modern, best practice solutions.

KEY DUTIES:

  • Manage, maintain, and enhance a diverse range of IT systems.
  • Oversee and optimize complex networking environments.
  • Identify and address capacity and availability issues.
  • Evaluate third-party solutions and technologies.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to determine integration pathways.
  • Support the development of business cases for new projects.
  • Promote consolidation of legacy systems to best practices.
  • Ensure seamless integration of new environments and applications.

To excel in this role, you’ll need:

  • A tertiary qualification, preferably in computer science.
  • Extensive experience across Unix and Linux operating systems (command line).
  • Proficiency in networking (Cisco, Aruba, Palo Alto).
  • Experience with virtualisation platforms (KVM, VMWare, Hyper-V)
  • Understanding of security practices and technologies.
  • Experience with hybrid on-premise and managed Data Centre environments
  • Public cloud architecture (AWS, Azure).
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Proven experience in a similar role for 5+ years
