Description:

QUALIFICATIONS YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with project management (Budget, Schedule, R&O).
  • Previous system engineering experience and product and certification lifecycle is required, preferably in Aviation/Avionics.
  • Experience with networking technologies and communication protocols (i.e. ARINC429, Ethernet, TCP/IP, Wireshark).
  • Knowledge of databases and SQL.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of application configuration file standards, such as XML, YML is desired.
  • Experience with DO-178 and Aircraft Certification is highly desired.

Collins Aerospace is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer with a passion for engineering and the desire to be part of a team of engineers responsible for designing, developing, and testing industry-leading avionics products. Our team develops the Onboard Maintenance System which is a part of the Collins Aerospace state-of-the-art flight deck solution. As a key contributor of the OMS team, you will be developing and integrating system solutions and configurations for various projects, as well as planning and coordinating work with a team of engineers.
This is an onsite position based in Cedar rapids, Iowa. Relocation assistance may be available.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for developing and providing Onboard Maintenance System solutions to internal and external customers.
  • Knows how to integrate and troubleshoot software and configuration on different platforms.
  • Knows the technical aspects of the Onboard Maintenance System (software and configuration) and designs, implements and verifies project specific solutions.
  • Conducts requirements reviews and tracing analysis.
  • Uses development tools and follows processes and continuously looks for improvements.
  • Involvement of all stages of product and certification lifecycle and responsible for the successful execution of one or more projects throughout the development life cycle (planning, development and certification).
  • Plans scope, schedule and cost for new and ongoing projects. Provides estimates and reports work and financial status to leadership.
  • Coordinates and communicates with direct team members, technical project managers, financial analysts and product managers.
  • Understands and follows processes and continuously looks for improvements.
  • Learns and understands the certification aspects of the Onboard Maintenance System in order to successfully certify the product.
  • May grow into a project engineer role who will lead one or more projects.
  • The ideal candidate is expected to be a gifted communicator with excellent presentation skills.
  • The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter and a quick learner who can work with minimal supervision.
