Description:

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE NEEDED:

  • Experience in the operation, test, and troubleshooting of complex military systems.
  • Experience leading and executing the integration, test and verification of software and software requirements.
  • Experience with software/systems integration planning and execution.
  • Experience in programming in C/C++, Python, or other programming languages.
  • Experience with requirements management databases, for example DOORS.
  • Experience in scripting and automation techniques or methodologies.
  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience; or an advanced degree in a related field and a minimum of 3 years’ experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret (or higher) Security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current Top-Secret clearance is preferred.
  • Experience in the operation, test, and troubleshooting of Naval systems.
  • Experience using DOORS for requirements management and linking requirements to test procedures.
  • Development of integration, verification, and validation planning documentation of integration and test plans, procedures, reports, status reports, and other related documentation.
  • Experience with agile development, including project estimating, reporting, and backlog management.
  • Experience with automated test scripting and automated data analysis.
  • Experience with DevSecOps/TDD/BDD; Security+.
  • Experience with MATLAB.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with coworkers from diverse communities and cultures.
    Location Details:
    The position is based in St. Petersburg, FL, nicknamed “The Sunshine City” for its average of 248 days of sunshine a year. The area is ideal for fishing, boating, and beautiful top rated Gulf beaches. It’s also known for its art and culture scene, as well as its wide variety of local restaurants and bars. For sports fans, The Tampa Bay area is home to the Tampa Bay Rays (MLB), Buccaneers (NFL), and Lightning (NHL). It is also the MLB Spring Training site for the Toronto Blue Jays and the Philadelphia Phillies. Our location is easily commutable from several nearby areas, just 5 miles from Interstate 275; options for where to call “home” are plentiful within the Tampa Bay area. St. Petersburg is also close to Tampa International Airport and St. Pete Clearwater International Airport and roughly 90 miles to the Orlando theme parks.

We are seeking a Senior Systems Test Engineer to work onsite in St. Petersburg, FL. The Systems Test Engineer within the Systems Excellence Department contributes through all phases of the product development lifecycle (i.e. systems and software requirements, system architecture and design, software integration and test, simulation and test, integration and test, verification and sell-off), within an interdisciplinary process that ensures the customer and warfighters needs are satisfied through every stage. This commitment to excellence can sometimes include opportunities for travel, and flexible hours/shifts to ensure programmatic milestones are met.
Our team of talented engineers collaborates across disciplines from initial concepts to product sell off, integrates complex technology, debugs, and resolves interface issues, evaluates system performance, demonstrates, and sells off state-of-the-art products.
The selected applicant will join a team of talented engineers with integration and test of sophisticated naval and maritime systems in support of the Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC) program, located in St. Petersburg, Florida, as part of Advanced Networking Solutions (ANS). The U.S. Navy’s CEC, a real-time ‘sensor-netting’ system that brings together radar data into a single integrated air picture from geographically dispersed ships, aircraft, and ground-based units. This integrated picture improves a battlegroup’s effectiveness by enabling longer range, cooperative, or layered engagements. Today’s CEC benefits from advancements in commercial and specialized technologies, as well as from the experience and expertise of the Collins Aerospace team, continually innovating to advance capability and performance.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leadership role with a Testing focus: Test Director, Product Owner, Scrum Master.
  • Support test strategy development, system level integration and test planning, design, and execution.
  • Develop test plans, test procedures, and test cases, incorporating automation where possible.
  • Perform integration and test activities in-house or at site locations.
  • Utilize DOORS to capture verification artifacts and maintain traceability to requirements.
  • Collaborate with Program and Customer Leadership.
  • Earned Value Management efforts such as informal cost and schedule estimating.
  • Troubleshooting and failure analysis, including the use of lab or field test equipment.
  • Innovative thought and implementation of automated test execution and data analysis using any combination of scripting tools, Python, Matlab, and COTS products.
