The Boeing Strategic Missile Defense System’s (SMDS) Quality organization is seeking an experienced Quality Inspector in Huntsville, AL.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience utilizing and following detailed work instructions, reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience setting up equipment and performing tests on various products and assemblies using manual, semi-automatic, and/or automated test devices.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Receiving inspection or parts/materials knowledge.
  • More than 3 years of experience performing dimensional, composition, non-destructive, destructive and/or electrical/electronic inspections.
  • More than 3 years of experience utilizing and following detailed work instructions, reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications.
  • More than 3 years of experience setting up equipment and performing tests on various products and assemblies using manual, semi-automatic, and/or automated test devices.

TYPICAL EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

High School degree required. Two year technical or Community College degree preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspects and/or tests, when required, to the Receiving Inspection Plan (RIP) to verify that product conforms to Engineering or other applicable drawings, Purchase Contract (PC)/Purchase Order (PO), Regulatory, site specific inspection instructions, or other contractual requirements.
  • Verifies Product to include hardware identification, count of the product (per site requirements) and a check to ensure the product is not damaged. Verifies the carrier paperwork, if applicable. If any of these items are unacceptable, initiates the grief process (in accordance with site requirements).
  • Obtains all applicable drawings, specification and inspection instructions to perform mechanical and electrical receiving inspection in accordance with applicable Quality Assurance standards for the category of material received.
  • Verifies the delivery of required deliverable test data, with data acceptability determined per RIP and site requirements.
  • Verifies the manufacturer’s Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) code or manufacturer’s address, when required by RIP or site requirements. When the supplier is a distributor, verify that the manufacturer’s CAGE code or name and address are on the distributor’s documentation.
  • Initiates Grief or Nonconformance in accordance with site requirements. Upon resolution of any grief situation, ensure that the condition is corrected, and then continue with other verification requirements, if any.
  • Use and interpret DoD, NASA and Boeing blueprints, specifications, directives, documents, manuals, inspection plans and other similar information pertaining to Quality Assurance.
  • Set up and operate measuring instruments and equipment necessary to accomplish work assignments.
  • Follow inspection and statistical sampling procedures to accept or reject materials and adjust inspection levels.
  • Move materials from place to place within the work area. This material can include not only parts, sub-assemblies and assemblies, but also tools, jigs, equipment, documentation, and other supplies as necessary for inspection and or assembly/test of products. This may include the packaging or unpackaging of raw material and/or finished products.
  • Setup equipment and perform tests on various products and assemblies using manual, semi-automatic, or automated test devices.
  • Witness, evaluate, certify and record certification testing data and maintain personal certifications as work requires.
  • Inspect incoming and outgoing shipments for proper identification, quantity, damage, packaging, paperwork, shipping instructions, and perform appropriate dimensional, composition, non-destructive, destructive and electrical/electronic inspection.
  • Review recurring discrepancies to ascertain cause and corrections required.
  • Review completed inspection records to assure compliance with pertinent written directives and other program direction.
  • Conduct internal reviews to assure compliance with the Quality Manual and other procedures such as Quality Instructions, Sampling Plans and Operating Procedures.
  • Assist QA Manager in continuous process improvement efforts.
  • Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Maintain licenses, permits and certifications required to perform assigned work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within general job classification.
