Description:

ZALORA is seeking a talented and motivated Tax Manager / Senior Manager to lead its tax teams across South East Asia. The Tax Manager / Senior Manager will be the main point of contact for all matters across tax types (including without limitation: corporate income tax, individual income tax, withholding tax, goods and services tax, value added tax, sales tax, services tax, customs duty, excise duty, fringe benefits tax, stamp duty, etc.). He/she will work in close collaboration with ZALORA’s senior management, legal team, business services team and external tax advisors to:

  • Comply with all tax requirements in South East Asia;
  • Partner with businesses towards the attainment of ZALORA’s strategic goals; and
  • Actively manage ZALORA Group’s tax risks

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Accountancy and/or Law with relevant accreditation(s);
  • Between 7-10 years of relevant experience;
  • Regional tax and/or Big 4 experience preferred;
  • Effective project, people and time management skills;
  • Team player with a strong analytical mind and attention to details;
  • Self-starter with inherent motivation to excel

Responsibilities:

Tax Compliance and Accounting

  • Ensure all returns are prepared, reviewed and submitted on a timely basis;
  • Comply with ZALORA’s transfer pricing and tax risk management policies;
  • Analyse tax numbers for reporting on a quarterly basis;
  • Assess uncertain tax positions for reporting on a quarterly basis; and
  • Manage the resolution of tax controversies across South East Asia.

Tax Lawyering

  • Review legal arrangements and structures of transactions for tax efficiency;
  • Craft favourable tax terms and conditions in contracts to mitigate tax leakages;
  • Participate in contract negotiation where necessary;
  • Work with Legal to update contract templates; and
  • Update relevant stakeholders on changes in Revenue Law for decision making.

Tax Business Partnering

  • Evaluate the viability of new business initiatives from the tax perspective;
  • Provide tax inputs for purposes of business modeling;
  • Participate in supply chain management for tax efficiencies;
  • Forecast and plan cash inflow/outflow for tax; and
  • Achieve tax objectives and key results of ZALORA Group.

Tax Administration

  • Conduct training for relevant personnel to increase tax awareness;
  • Maintain tax documentation in anticipation of queries/audits from authorities;
  • Update global tax team on key tax developments in South East Asia;
  • Review work processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness; and
  • Collaborate with other functions on special projects.
