JOB SUMMARY:

Procter & Gamble is seeking an individual with strong technical skills and experience in engineering to join our team at Greensboro, North Carolina, as a Project Technical Engineer. There are multiple opportunities to lead projects to bring new technologies to life, upgrade / retrofit existing machinery, and enable improvements / cost savings supporting productivity and operational excellence. You will be part of a unique organization based within the manufacturing plant that drives synergies, technical rigor, and focuses on delivering projects with excellence utilizing standard work processes.
As a Senior Technical Engineer / Project Manager, you will be responsible for providing technical and/or overall leadership for projects in the areas of innovation for new and upgraded technologies, enabling automation and productivity improvements, and increasing existing operational efficiencies.
Your role will be a key enabler in leading and delivering base business, new technologies, and new initiatives to support the innovation and productivity masterplan for the site. You will be the liaison with central engineering, equipment vendors, and engineering firms for feasibility studies, platform implementation and upgrades, and new projects. You will be a contact for capital spending, procurement, trending, forecasting, and overall execution for all areas of projects assigned. Project areas can include processing, packing, customization, and facilities.

In this role you will build technical and project management mastery. Providing leadership and support on:

  • Projects driven by the business unit requests including innovation, initiatives, and sustainability
  • Projects driven by site requests to enable automation, improve productivity, provide BCP, drive operational efficiency, address obsolescence
  • Innovation of new and current operations in making, packing, customization, and facilities across unique equipment and platform technologies

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with focus on Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering (or other related degree and/or work-related experience) including the Armed Forces.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years work experience leading engineering and manufacturing projects related to processing and/or packing technologies.
  • Ability to be located in Greensboro, NC and willingness to travel occasionally (typically less than 10%, can be more at times dependent on specific project).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with operations, packing equipment, and/or process equipment.
  • Experience with a regulated industry, such as Food, Cosmetic, or Drug for knowledge of GMP compliance is a plus.

Technical, schedule, and costing challenges within new and existing technologies – technology development, initiative delivery (e.g. development & execution of complex learning and qualification plans)

  • Responsible for technical scope across feasibility, definition, installation, integration, and start-up of new and/or upgraded equipment.
  • Lead and/or lead team to deliver capital projects for defined scope including planning, design, and implementation equipment plus associated documentation utilizing standard work processes.
  • Lead equipment VATs (vendor acceptance tests) and construction for installation plus start-up on purchased equipment including design, development, authoring, and leadership of test plans and qualification plans.
  • Provide technical and overall direction to vendors and engineering firms throughout all phases of the project (design through construction and startup).
  • Input to and/or own project scope, cost, schedule, and resourcing plus the ability to quickly embrace and adapt to change. Delivering project scope at cost and on schedule along with risk management and escalation capability are key skills needed.
  • Work collaboratively with site / global engineering, technical vendors, equipment suppliers, and production site personnel displaying strong hand-on partnership with operations and supporting operational excellence.
  • Lead and/or lead team including vendor interactions for equipment specification and procurement process
