APAC Technology is one of Vanguard Australia’s largest divisions, providing technology assistance, support and expertise to the organisation. Our teams provide support across various divisions such as, Global Investment Financial Systems, Personal Investor, and Financial Advisor Services & Marketing Technology

In this role, the Senior Technical Lead provides the most senior-level technical leadership, including the direction, evaluation, implementation and integration of new and existing technologies and tools across a breadth of platforms, whilst providing direction and advice across multiple teams. You will be involved in some exciting upcoming and existing projects such as:

  • Innovative digital experiences that drive business value through scalable, direct-to-consumer web and native mobile solutions that delight our investment clients.
  • Create and leverage enterprise-wide solutions that power Vanguard’s shared-services divisions to operate and provide services that lead to amazing client outcomes.
  • Continuous evolution of our modern marketing technology (MarTech) ecosystem that can be applied to promote Vanguard, including its mission & brand, along with the ability to provide a timely, relevant, and personalised multi-channel client experience.
  • Software development and support services for our global IMG business
  • Build and support mature, modern platform capabilities that provides scalable, performant, and secure services to power the Personal Investor and Advisor client experiences.
  • Provide technology solutions that enable a world-class customer support capability.

You will partner with Australian and global business units to strategically advise how contemporary technologies, education and process innovation can help them to deliver value and meet their business goals and obtain their outcomes and key results.
With an elevated level of IT and business acumen, the Senior Technical Lead proactively identifies opportunities and demonstrates possibilities that technology can enable.
You will provide technical leadership to establish and foster best of breed engineering teams whilst contributing to our international agenda and strategy.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provide senior level technical leadership for critical software projects on multiple platforms, whilst providing technical expertise and completes complex development, design, implementation, architecture design specification, and maintenance activities
  • Ensure the viability of IT deliverables, recommend development and architectural options and approves the team’s technical deliverables. Provide a focus on testing approaches, including functionality, technical limitations, and security
  • Identify & approve potential technical solutions proposed by team members. Resolve complex technical problems and respond to technical issues based on project timelines and timeframes
  • Research issues and undertake root cause analysis; anticipate technology problems and preventatives
  • Communicate with key stakeholders on project issues and implications, evaluate the impacts of change requests on technologies and effectively persuade and influence others on ideas
  • Maintain current and working knowledge of IT development methodology, architecture design, and technical standards
  • Mentor crew and identifies training needs as new standards are instituted, ensures their usage by team members
  • Learn and apply modern technology quickly, and is well versed in the latest technologies and tools supporting software development in the industry. Assist with the creation of strategic product launch roadmaps
  • Ensure the viability of IT deliverables and recommend development options, including design, build/buy, and vendor purchase. Partner with architects to design and implement high-performant, scalable and secure solutions
  • Review and approve documentation and diagrams created by IT team members, writes documentation, including technical standards and processes.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous quality improvement of technical standards, methodologies, and technologies and leads recommended solutions
  • Develop code that is well structured, backed by automated tests, and is easy to understand and maintain; employ contemporary software development techniques to ensure tests are implemented in a way that supports automation
  • Amplify the productivity of entire teams through collaboration, coaching and the implementation of technology frameworks
  • Thoroughly understand and complies with Information Technology and Information Security policies and procedures and verifies that deliverables meet requirements. Works across organisational lines to improve both IT and Information Security policies and procedures.
